while driving along yesterday, for work, i suddenly felt painful at the toe area. when i got home, checked, found the area behind middle toe to be red and swollen. i do not remember kicking anything or having anything dropping on my foot. this just happened like out of thin air. is anyone able to suggest what caused it, and how should i go about getting it treated?

i am actually thinking of going to a chinese sinseh. any recommendations for a good one, preferably in the west? thanks all.

middle toe as in #3, which ever way you count it?

suddenly pain and then red?? oh dear... jialat.

when was the last time you washed your feet/socks/shoes, have green odor fumes wafting from them or not? probably a disgusting bug bite.

No bite marks? No cuts? No recollection of spraining your toe? If the swollen or inflammation happen without hurting yourself externally, could be gout.

Most common is the big toe according internet search. But it can be anywhere. I got it under my arch before and some other parts of the feet. See a doc for urine test for uric acid.
