The cause of the issue is believed to be a defect in the electronic speed-control system and is a frightening problem for drivers of Toyota cars, trucks, and SUVs. The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating this defect, and Toyota has initiated a national recall of nearly 3.8 million vehicles, the largest in company history.

Sudden Acceleration Controversy

The unexpected and uncontrollable acceleration of a vehicle is a very serious matter. Drivers and passengers alike have been injured and killed by vehicles that suddenly accelerated to speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Because of the design of these vehicles, drivers are unable to stop by using the brakes, leading to devastating accidents.

Toyota officials claim the issue stems from unsecured floor-mats on the driver

Local models still safe to drive as the AD only bring in the entry level models which do not have much high-tech features.

Ya lor, I even saw 2.0L Altis running on JB roads. They have 2.4L Altis in States.

Regards,

What? You mean all the recalled vehicles are not designed to stop using the brakes when the car is travelling "in excess of 100 miles per hour"? That is about 160km/hr, already cannot use brakes to stop?

But I note that the name of the law firm is only a few alphabets short of "Rottweiler". Down boy! [laugh]
