Have you check the "fine prints" at the back of your rental agreement??? yes. i've reported to the rental company and the i signed the paper with the 8k excess thingy. what im concerned now is tht the lorry driver can claim all he wants according to the rental company and he claimed over 20k as i was told for his medical cost. some 2nd degree injuries etc.. i just wanna koe if tht fraud in the news has got to do with mine case which i called the rental company and sms. they ignored me. Take it as a very expensive lesson learned! Bro, there might be chances you were conned. Any receipt for the 8K? If yes, you can choose to get lawyer's advice. You were not told of the 8K excess right? Did you see the hospital bills? Also no right? The rental company can also make up story that the lorry driver is claiming 20K in damages. BTW, what's the rental company name? Don't have to give exact name? Use something like wheel of fortune. Missing alphabets.
Shicyj Neutral Newbie February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 by my understanding. once you paid the excess, the rest not your problem already, no need to entertain any claims from lorry driver or rental company. but $8k excess for Honda Jazz... NTUC car club carsharing excess at most $2K if i remember correctly. Taxi driver excess also $1000 :P Take as expensive lesson learnt. That being said, better look at the rental agreement fine print to quantify your liability, dunno if the agreement got problem or not... your lawyer might be able to fight for you. Ask the lawyer to send letter to them, maybe they will kuai kuai return some of that money. but you need to pay the lawyer.
