What can government do to get more babies?

For me, I have one kid.

 

One thing that will REALLY help is

 

1) make all pre school government owned with high standards. No expensive private pre schools. Asian parents will ALWAYS want the BEST for their child. And if they cannot afford it for many kids, they just have one kid.

the problem i felt is, alot of pre school or childcare are full. most require waiting list. even now with 1.06 fertility rate we are facing shortage of childcare options as well as schools, how can the existing infrastructure cope if we do hit 2.1?

Hmmm, why not just start more govt owned preschools that is cheapest YET provide best standard of everything? This will automatically put those so called expensive private preschool out of business, or at least make them lower price to stay competitive.

Free till bachelor degree, becos it is university fees that is the killer. Secondary Sch fees is still consider cheap for citizens.

If a couple has 2 children or more, both husband and wife are aged below 30, and want to upgrade or purchase a house, they get additional $25k CPF grant per child for the house, regardless of their income or whatever house they choose to buy.

 

If a couple has 2 children or more before 30, the interest on their CPF OA is 2% more than the default rate.
