KARTer 2nd Gear February 8, 2011 Share February 8, 2011 Notice nowadays private buses wait in public bus bay along the roads for their passengers and these buses usually just park there for 10-20mins even during peak hours.... for example the Sentosa Resort World buses at bus stops along the main road near Vivo city etc etc. The result is that normal public buses have no place to pick up / let out their passengers in the bus bay so they just stop along the road, causing traffic jams behind.... It is ok if private buses just stop and move off like public buses at these bus bays, but they just simply park there to wait for passengers to fill up the seats ... ignoring the traffic jam they are causing ↡ Advertisement
Soya Supersonic February 8, 2011 Share February 8, 2011 there are even worse culprits. pte buses that park along the main road but open the rear engine cover to pretend they "broke down". these buses always seem to break down near some tourist restaurant..... Dafansu Turbocharged February 8, 2011 Share February 8, 2011 Other vehicles are not allowed to drive on the bus lane except emergency service and police vehicles (on urgent duty call make known by means of some distinctive siren). Non-scheduled buses such as school and factory buses may also use the bus lane. However, they are not allowed to stop, pick up or let their passengers alight along bus lanes. Don't anyhow hantam, can google if not sure one. http://www.lta.gov.sg/public_transport/index_pt_bus.htm "A bus refers to a public service vehicle of a design approved by the Registrar of Vehicles. It should have a seating capacity for 9 people or more (excluding the driver)." From what I know so far, if you are driving a PA, PB, PC, PH, CB, PZ, SBS, TIB, SMB or SJE vehicle (any one that I have missed out?), then you can go into the bus lanes at any hour. But you cannot stop along these bus lanes during their operational hours, unless you are driving a in-service SBS, TIB, SMB or SJE vehicle, or LTA has given approval for your bus to do so, example premium bus service.
