hi guys!

just bought a 2nd hand passo for a week.

currently my brake pad worn out already. going to replace em once CNY is over.

however other than the squealing sound i hear frm the pads, there's a growling noise from the left side wheel.

rather loud and it sounds like the wheel bearings up lorry already. it's those metal rub metal noise

however i don think is the wheel bearings as the sound comes only when driven a period and the disc got heated up

and applying brakes.

anyone got similar issues?

[bigcry] [bigcry]

Any got workshop to recommend for pad change tmr? i know a lot of work shop opens aft 7th feb.

sounds like uneven rotors if the sound comes during hard braking...

as for the brake pads, try to get them replaced asap.. a totally worn brake pad would result in the brake pad backing to be rubbing onto the rotor, causing the rotor to get worn prematurely.. also, most brakes have a metal clip on the brake pads that would give out a high pitch squeeling sound when you apply the brakes...

check with your mechanic when you change your brake pads.. get his opinion on whether your discs require skimming if they could..

not sure if workshops are open during this festive season..

hard brake things seemed normal, its only when gradual or slow braking u start to hear the noise. but very random. it don happen everytime.

sigh, most of the workshop opens aft 7, and the workshop i go opens aft 10. [bigcry]

Same thing happened to me. Thought it ws the bearings at first, but it turned out to be the worn brake pads. Mechanic advised not to drive as further braking could damage the entire brake system. But because my car is 26 years old, parts are hard to come by, they couldn't find the parts at short notice so had to wait till the next day. Lucky is was just before CNY.

In the meantime, had to drive slow, with lots of engine braking when approaching junctions. Went back to the workshop the next day and they were kind enough to spend quite alot of time and effort to locate a set for me!

I am driving a Toyota Vios 02 model. I have the same problems as you did. My car was bought with 16T mileage only and is roughly used. The thing is, when I am backing up, I am always hearing a squeaking sound. Is that the same as yours? How are your issues?

when u step on the brakes....does the car vibrate more ...along with the growling sound?

my front discs were sent for re-cut and i replaced the front brake pads. recut cost was S$50+ for both.

Are your brake discs stock or aftermarket? The new pads you got, are they also OEM?

As per the squealing that I am also experiencing now. How could I know which of these 3 possible problems http://www.automd.com/diagnose/problems?aid=94 is the reason of the squealing noise from my brakes?

Hi all,

I am also encountering squeaking sound when pressing brake while reversing into carpark lot.

Mine is a 4 yr old Nissan Latio.

Is it time to change my brake pads?

squeaking mostly due to worn out brake pads, check it out fast, it not fix, the rotors will spoil and cost more to change

I also encounter squeaking sound when depressing brake pedal initially. Please don't tell me it is the front brake pads. I just changed them during my last service and i am not even 5000 km away from that servicing interval since.

can be back too, if your back is not pad type, more troublesome to change.

u can ask someone to stand beside your car while u brake to find out sound come from where

yea. could be. Come to think of it, i didn't change rear brake pads during that servicing. [:p] That squeaking came about after i had to do e brake after a moron decided to filter out of the expressway across the chevron markings. [rifle]

Not true. If metal rubs against metal. Replace rotor and brake pads. The entire brake system not damaged. That Mechanic a liar. Go to another Mechanic.
