Sharing a very useful iphone app - cockpit recorder

Last night chanced upon a free app (for now) as above. Found it very useful.

Basically it makes your iphone work like a car video recorder with GPS logging functionality. I have been testing out a commercial recorder of $400 value and found the apps to be of much better quality, due to the good camera in my 3GS. 4G iphone should return even better performance. During playback, you can see the video together with gps location and speed, very cool. Should be good for oversea driving holidays too. But you will need to pay US$3 to get it exported from the phone, which I will gladly pay if the need arise.

Try it and see if you like it. [wave]

Turbocharged

For Droid users.. these are the few (search from Market)

- Ployd Black Box

- Traffic Recorder

GPS location, date, time, route overlay ontop of Google map beside the video, Eco mode monitoring, G Sensor for sudden accelerate/decelerate...

Not used though it looks good from the description & sample.. well, my HTC cam & battery life is crap anyway.(Anyone can recommend an Android phone with good cam & battery life, please pm me [:p] )

ok, where do i get a holder for the iphone? [:p] Basically for this function as well as GPS using iphone

I got mine from dealextreme.com for US$5 niah (includes free shipping)...hahah

The mistake I made was I bought one that fitted my iPhone 4 perfectly, meaning I have to remove my cover before I use it...

Should have bought one with the adjustable alligator clamp - no need to remove my cover [rolleyes]

Thank you for the heads up. Any specific recommendation for a windscreen mount?

Thanks, I went to search on the net for Ployd cos I didn't manage to find it from Market. The interface looks cool, will try it out after work.

Think you can get a suitable one from any handphone accessory shop or counter, so long as it can hold the phone stright without blocking the camera. Sim Lim square sure got alot of it.

And do get a car charger too as gps really drain the battery quite fast.
