Ivansyl Clutched January 18, 2011 Share January 18, 2011 im looking to upgrade from my current 15" to 17" tyres and rims but the promoter at autobacs told me that i will regret my decision and eventually might wanna downgrade back to 15" as he said that it will be very heavy on the car. anyone here upgraded to 17" on latio? hows the response? is the diff in power very big? bcuz i have considered this drawback but didnt think it will be affected that much. ↡ Advertisement

Hamburger Hypersonic January 18, 2011 Share January 18, 2011 go for it..... my bro is on a 17" enkei cps2 and 215/45/17 tyre. It look much better. so what if it is slower or the slight increase in FC, the look and more importantly, the better handling is a great trade off
Fishballqq Neutral Newbie January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 I bought 1 yr old car and it has 17" rims, I feel the pick up is superrrrrrrrrr slow, esp on slopes. Even cherry was faster than me.. but it does look nicer

Unfair 3rd Gear January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 Unless you get those expensive and light ones, no pt going for 17 inch rims. Tyres expensive, ride more uncomfortable and pick up will be affected.

Tyres expensive, ride more uncomfortable and pick up will be affected. it's not just about the weight. Upgrading from 15" to 17" most probably means that the diameter of the tyre will increase significantly. It's like removing your 1st gear and can only start your car in 2nd gear... Chengwh492 Clutched January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 bread butter car stick with the 15" lah, if want big rims, get a decend entry level sports car or suv. anyhow upgrade rims is 1 good way of wasting $.
Weichien Clutched January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 Hey I would suggest "16" which is more balance but wouldn't be any much different from "15".
Thedream 3rd Gear January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 ??? 15 to 17 then lower profile tyres lah... *faints*... bro ken, he know not what he is talking.... brothers,... take the stock latio 15" overall diameter, then find a 17" overall diameter that will match... you'll be hard-pressed to find a low profile 17" to match the stock diameter... Andylau1177 Neutral Newbie January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 its not an overkill, its the very norm imo yalor, i see many cars by right is stock 15 one but all rims very big. really look nice lah, but personally i find it overkill. at least in my experience last time, i totally regretted changing that time. Ken4555 1st Gear January 19, 2011 Share January 19, 2011 this is my thoughts on your wanting to change to 17" dont care what others say... its YOUR car and YOU decide what size rims for it to wear... but here are some FACTS you will need to consider... *if 17 same material as your 15, yes heavier... everybody says slower but come on lah... unless you do track drag racing, trust me wont be much difference lah... unless your car poor condition engine compression weak? and say if you get ultra light weight 17s, you wont feel difference... but note that tyres will be wider and FC will go up for sure... *17inch tyres are much more expensive then 15inch tyres... *a 17inch rims will make your front disc rotor look terribly small... Latio stock front disc rotor is even smaller then sunny stock... if you ask me i would suggest 16inch rims for your latio... not too much weight difference and not so expensive tyres... you can get rims with 'look' bigger than they are designs... to me, nice rims must go with lowered springs or sports suspension or coil overs, and your car will already look WORLDS apart from stock... ultimately, you will be the one looking at your car everyday... so it should look nice to you... and not others... cheers...
