Zanter 3rd Gear January 13, 2011 Author Share January 13, 2011 (edited) Ok this is Singapore. We not lining up outside Parliment to petition. Just Sign Petition if you think we should bid for our own COE's. I am fed up with Dealers making a fat profit from us on the COE part of the deal. When COE goes up, they increase price, When COE goes down they pocket the profit. Fair? Edited January 13, 2011 by Zanter
Mllcg 3rd Gear January 13, 2011 Share January 13, 2011 The fact that people are still buying cars meaning the car is still affordable. We may think COE is very high but there are thousands out there who do not think so. it is high. coz those who really need it for work or family cannot afford because they only earn 2k/mth. those who buy, are those with spare cash/loaded
Roh96 6th Gear January 13, 2011 Share January 13, 2011 There is always a choice of bidding your own COE and no one will stop you. In fact i don't blame dealers for pushing COE to this level. It is the market force that is pushing the COE up. The dealers are bidding based on the orders they have collected, not speculating. How to push COE up if there is no buyer? The same thing will happen if everyone bid their own COE, those who can afford 70K COE will outbid those who can't.
Maroon5 5th Gear January 13, 2011 Share January 13, 2011 sir, it is a free mkt. how can gahmen hv a regulation on how much shd an AD charge for a car without COE? there r alr avenues to bid ur own coe and get ur car, PI, self import, nego w AD etc. but the truth is many pple do not do it becos financing issues (self bidders), difficult lecheh (self import) and kiasee (PI). I am fed up with Dealers making a fat profit from us on the COE part of the deal. When COE goes up, they increase price, When COE goes down they pocket the profit. Fair? Beside premium conti ADs like BMW, Merc, Audi...which i agree have fat profit from their sales, the rest of the ADs are actually suffering from high COE. BM just retrench some staffs recently, some PIs have closed shop, some ADs hardly sell a car in a month. They also don't want COE to be sky high.
