Gusruh Clutched January 12, 2011 Share January 12, 2011 On 8-12-2010, I bought a pair of Ray-Ban Tech carbon fibre model RB 8301 at a spectacle shop at Everton Park for $190. Three weeks later, I discovered that the Ray-Ban signature logo wording on the right lens peeled off which make me question on their authenticity. I brought the spectacle to the shop and was assured that it was a genuine one and he got it from a distributer and will get it replace with a new one. I got a replacement and now testing it. I suspected that I was sold with a replica Ray-Ban sunglass since Ray-Ban signature wording on the right lens easily peeled off where as Ray-Ban are well known for their quality. I was not given a receipt for my purchased and the pricing was below a certain price. Any members here ever encounter this. Thank you. ↡ Advertisement

Whatthe 1st Gear January 12, 2011 Share January 12, 2011 The easiest way is to check for engraving. Ray Ban sunglasses have the Ray Ban signature engraved on the lens. Mine does. You can google about it.
Whatthe 1st Gear January 12, 2011 Share January 12, 2011 I can't see from the picture if your glasses has the engraving, but it should be just below the hinge of the glasses. Google about it if you are unsure.

Whatthe 1st Gear January 12, 2011 Share January 12, 2011 Ok that's good. If you put the real glasses next to the fake ones, its really easy to tell which is not real. http://www.squidoo.com/ray-ban-aviators-original I hope this helps!

Bravooc10 1st Gear January 26, 2011 Share January 26, 2011 i'm in the industry and in all honesty. fakes can be real hard to tell. some ccheaper one are parallel imports... so no exclusive distributor warranty...any "warranty" is @ shop's cost. btw, original ones can also be a lemon

Chucky2007 Turbocharged May 12, 2011 Share May 12, 2011 Some shops selling fakes. It can be shops found in neighborhood or shopping centers. Few years ago i lost a pair of Oakley XX model. It cost me $240 at Quueensway with full cert, receipt n warranty fr my 1st pair. I happen to pass by a big spec shop at Suntec n it was selling the same model for $170. Was about to buy it but the set doesn't come with a box n only the cloth was with it. The shop told me parallel import so no box. I insisted on a box n complete package n the box they gave looks low quality n 99% fake. If i hasn't bought a pair of Oakley before, i could have beeu duped to buy it thinking its the real stuff. Can't imagine paying $170 for a pair of fakes that is selling for $
