How come they don't list nett price on their menus?

When paying bill that time then they add GST and service charge? [confused]

Seems to be a norm for this industry

This is because GST changes from time to time and other taxes might come into play at one time or another ie. luxury tax etc.

Service charge is plain exploitation. Next thing they'll charge is rental of tables and chairs.

You not scared ppl come in and suan you meh?

Anyway in sgp ppl dun practice tipping hence service charge. Even if there are restaurants who dun have service charge they will factor it into the food anyway. They have to pay their staff and pay them OT especially during the weekends. Dun talk until like it's some kinda "Norm". Waiters & waitress dun work for nothing, they are like us have to work & pay bills too.

TS like most typical sgporeans. Neow. :D

Already factored in liao. But, not surprised if they start adding these charges in. Some in EU have different pricings for standing and proper sitting down.

McDonalds is not a restaurant [laugh]

So next u might be saying a restaurant selling food in a shophouse or hdb first floor with no aircon is not a restaurant too..but a restaurant is simply a place which prepares and serves food, drink and dessert to customers in return for money [laugh]

Cos the price is lower and thus looks more appealing?

Also, for easy calculation for the accounts department during GST submission.

Supersonic

I believe they list the price before service charge and GST because those are subject to changes and they don't want to waste $$$ printing new menus.
