Vibration at 60KM/H After Changing Tyres

Hi guys! I need some help. I bought a set of 2nd hand tyres and replace them at city tyre shop (cause its around 10pm at night at others are closed already).

When the mechanic did the balancing, he told me one rim got vibration and true enough there is vibration at low speeds and noise. Its most intense at around 60KM/H. As I went higher the vibration is no longer felt. Its not felt thru the steering wheel but the pedals.

I am just wondering if its due to rims or the tyres or the balancing? Cause the car was fine prior to changing tyres.

I also notice the guy added alot of weight on each rim, around 70-80g. All 4 rims so badly unbalanced?

There might be a problem with the tyre. Makes me wonder why the tyres is being sold as second hand in the first instant?

If you rims are original on your car, then it CANNOT be your rim issues!

Could be the rims not properly reinstalled. (sould be some debrie inbetween the rims and car mating plate?)

Is it a stock rim or an aftermarket sports rim? New or 2nd hand rim?

Its an aftermarket rim. I am not sure whats the brand. But it has been on the car for quite several years already. I was using the same set of tyres for a few years w/o any vibration problems till I change tyres last night.

Thus I am wondering if I have problems with the rims or car issue, why did it only surface during the wheel balancing and not before? its kind of weird.

installer is plain lazy. If he knows there is so much weight on one particular area, he should have rotated the tyres to a more optimum position with less weight needed......... <_<

vibration are cause by 2 tings... the tire (not mounted properly) and the rim (out of shape).

when do balancing.. using those machine without a tire cover... when the tire turn.. u can see the tire wobbling.. then u can expect vibration liao.

U go back to the tire shop and ask them to redo the balancing.. alternately... go to another tireshop to do balancing and seek their advice..if tire problem.. go back to city tire to get a refund or a new set (top up when necessary)

for me.. i will nvr go for 2nd hand tire... unless is those super new one (like buy new car and then go for upgrade)..

anything more than 500km run... is consider old tire.. i will give them a miss even though they are cheap.

also stock tire are usually not those good one..

i have the same problem before and the reason is due to a WARPED rims....

I hit some concrete stones on the side of the road along ECP and that totally smashed the rims.

I suggest for safetey reasons change the rims....
