Suspension Modification for CS3

Hi all,

I am driving a FL CS3 on stock shocks and absorbers for 3.5 years. Time for a change since the rear has sunk to 2 fingers. I am on 205/50/16 rims

I have a budget of 1k to play with and I am going more for comfort and ease of exiting the car. 16 inch wheels made my ride higher and i have difficulty getting out as I am a handicap on crutches.

What would you suggest? Lowering springs or coilovers? What is the total cost like for both and where can I get them?

I have read the various threads on the above but still not very sure. I am more inclined towards lowering springs and shocks for comfort and my usage.

Pls advise.

Thanks [wave]

If you are looking for comfort, then coilovers are out.

Stick back to stock suspension.

From my personal experience, I have used BC V1. Not too bad but can never be as comfort as stock. Different butt feels. So suggest you check out SLC and LMC forums for more feedback.

Dear All,

I am hoping to lower car for ease of exiting. My legs are weak and can't touch the ground when I step out of my car. Over at LMC, I have read folks using vogtland springs with kyb shocks. Is that ok? I would like some feedback on comfort and cost

I have used tein lowering springs before, relatively soft, and lowered my car to front 1 finger, rear 0 finger. Should make it much easier to get out of your car. Or can try smaller rims, lower profile tyres too.

Thanks for your valuable advice. Decided to get br coilovers after doing my sums.

My last qn.. for those who are on br coilovers, what hardness level do you set for the front and rear? I dun take corners at high speed.

why not tein super street ? reliable and comfortable enough for street and daily driving yet suitable for the weekend track warriors ?

you have the option to purchase the edfc (mounted in the car cabin)which you can adjust the harshness of the ride on the fly .

as much as coilovers do firm up the suspension characteristics , do have a set of anti sway bars installed to further enhance and fine tune the "anti roll"

effects.small money but yet improves a great deal.

There are a few brands like Ultra Racing, Summit, Alutec.

For anti roll or sway bar, I think UR has thicker ones for your ride.

There are other types of strut bars for different parts of your car to enhance the chassis.

Threeleggedman: If you want comfort for family usage, yet some stability for your car, then probably you can get a full set of Ultra Racing bars. Followed by negative camber setting. These will help you to improve your car's handling, but not to the extreme whereby you start to lose comfort.

For Ultra Racing, you'll have to contact E-Rev for latest pricing.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your comments. Very informative.

I am on coilovers now. Not as bumpy as I expect them to be. Lowered for my easy entry.

Wishing all a happy and prosperous new year.. HUAT ARH [sunny]
