Garmin Nuvi 1350 GPS

Just got a Garmin 1350.

Have tried all the settings and couldn't have the lane view displayed (i.e. whether am I driving on lane 1, 2 or 3).

I remembered there is lane view displayed on previously borrowed Nuvi 250W.

Not particularly impressed with its user friendliness. Took quite some time to figure out even the search function.

R u using Malsingmaps? The one directly from malsingmaps.com or the one from garmin.com

Download the latest one from Garmin.com. Previous versions have very limited lane assist.

Newest one (2010.40 NT) has more but still limited.

Garmin is one of the most user frenly imo. U juz need to get used to it la. All new gadgets are not user frenly until u get used to it.

Thanks bro.

It's Malsingmaps NT 2010.20 and City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT 2010.30

I just sync with Garmin webby few days back and it says my map is already the latest version.

Still figuring out how to have multipoints route, detour, etc. Can only set from point A to B now. [:p]

The last time with borrowed Garmin, it brought me to Holland in Boleh Land. [laugh]

Tom Tom and Garmin are both very popular in US and Europe. However, beyond both sides of the Atlantic, Tom Tom is not popular due to its limited maps. But this has changed when Tom Tom made its recent foray into this regions and also elsewhere. It will take sometime for its maps to catch up with Garmin. One main disadvantage which Tom Tom and other GPS brands faced is the lack of third party maps. Only with Garmin, you have many mapping communities producing free maps for their respective region. In My/Sg, you have MFM and MSM, Navigasi in Indonesia, another one in NZ and a few others in other countries.

Currently using 1350...if I'm not using the GPS I still on it and just use the device as a speedo, placed it near the a pillar near the IU and acts as a HUD...just press the speed reading while on map view and it will switch to a digital speedo with mileage and can compute fc (just reset the mileage every petrol topup)...

I'm using the 1350.

So far no complaints. Work as it should be. Even with the default maps from Garmin, it works well. The junction view is one really good feature to have especially for newbie driver like myself. The super big screen is really very nice to have also. Before that I'm using the 205 with the tiny screen. Now reading off the map is very easy.

I've also got the traffic receiver but here in sg is quite useless because the traffic situation is not updated very fast.

I used my garmin for more than 1 years but garmin website never have any updated maps. Is that normal or have i missed out something?

You have to go to the local Garmin website at www.garmin.com.sg. Both Garmin CN and MSM NT maps are updated every quarterly.

Neutral Newbie

Hi guys, I have the Garmin 1350 as well. How do you guys update your maps? I've tried connecting a USB cable to my set (with a mini SD card loaded) but my computer never seems to be able to detect my GPS set. Tried with a couple of other cables and on another computer but still not working. Anything I'm missing out on or any service center I can bring my set to so they can update for me?
