Yahgo22 1st Gear December 21, 2010 Share December 21, 2010 I feel that LTA should shorten the bidding to 1 day instead of 3 days. After all in all the biddings, actions come in only on the last day and on the final hour. Dun u all agree? Why waste time. ↡ Advertisement

Kusje Supersonic December 21, 2010 Share December 21, 2010 You are free to only start your bids at the last moment so I don't see any reason why they should change it. Whose time exactly is it wasting?
Yahgo22 1st Gear December 21, 2010 Author Share December 21, 2010 (edited) Bid on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. Everybody can know the result sooner. Why wanna waste time and wait until Wed. Edited December 21, 2010 by Yahgo22
Tigershark1976 Turbocharged December 21, 2010 Share December 21, 2010 Bid on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. Everybody can know the result sooner. Why wanna waste time and wait until Wed. what Kusje trying to say is, you can always choose to bid last minute and your waiting time is minimised. nobody is asking you to bid 2 days in advance. I think the longer time frame is better for the bidder. If someone wanted to bid, he doesnt need to bid within the specific date. He can always bid earlier. I think the only group of people may really complain would be the AD and PI where they may have to monitor the COE bidding trends for longer period.... SimonTan 2nd Gear December 21, 2010 Share December 21, 2010 People are lazy. Give you one year also no use. Everyone like to last minute do things. Bus fare rebate...sure many complain on the last day, don't have time to go check their ezlink. Income tax...sure many last minute do filing each year. Buy bak-kwa....come CNY sure many queue up to buy last minute. Three days may be wasting time to some. But in a democratic society, must give chance to everyone. Three days, sure one day got free time to submit the bid right? So no excuse to say not enough time lah. Last minute stomach ache cannot bid lah. Last minute ATM spoil cannot bid lah. Last minute complain to gov no time.

SimonTan 2nd Gear December 22, 2010 Share December 22, 2010 Yes..these $1 bidders are serious. Why? Because they believe the AD computer system will crash at 3:30pm, or power failure at some AD at that time too. Things can happen, if one is lucky. Just like lottery. Its hard to win. But if one did not buy, one will never win.

Mona-vie 1st Gear December 22, 2010 Share December 22, 2010 The problem is that if you shorten it to one day, people may complain they missed the bidding because they have no time etc....... Thus I think 3 days is necessary.

DingDang Neutral Newbie December 27, 2010 Share December 27, 2010 (edited) Yes, if we observe the teletext, the actual bidding starts only at the last half hour where the ADs pump in all their bids! Sounds very much like e way I bid for my modules. This phenonmenon is due to the open bidding system where e lowest minimum bid can be seen. To solve this problem? Go for close bidding!! Close bidding results in swinging prices as people tend to bid a price they are comfortable with, and thus a $50 COE once in a blue moon. However when they are priced out, they will have a 'kelong' feel especially when they just missed the bid by a few dollars. Then people will claim that it is not transparent.... Having a close bidding system, however, allows us to bid early, as no one has a clear late mover advantage. Then having 3 days to bid sounds logical. Open bidding system? We will always be trying to outbid each other (at least the ADs are!). But if you feel priced out, You can withdraw and don't waste time! Chengwh492 Clutched December 28, 2010 Share December 28, 2010 if given too short of a time, the online system may not be able to take the load and maybe that may cause zero coe to be registered. ↡ Advertisement
