Lucaswh 1st Gear April 4, 2012 Share April 4, 2012 Thanks everyone for your great advice. Have realised that my car just needed a good service to change out all the worn bits and fluids. And its all sweet now. Here's a run down of my 100k service. 1. Change Water Pump Problem: Screeching sound coming from it. Old and slightly corroded, not performing smoothly. Solution: New water pump is smooth, runs silently. 2. Change Belting Problem: Worn belts, not to the extent of breaking but irregularities in the belt caused some sound Solution: Changed to new stock belts. 3. Change Spark Plugs. Problem: Poor acceleration, poor fuel consumption, engine feels strained and suffocated Solution: New set of 4 NGK Iridium Spark Plugs, acceleration is fantastic now, revvs rise and fall smoothly 4. Change Auto Transmission Fluid Problem: Whirling sound, gear changes not fluid and smooth Solution: Changed to stock 3317 Suzuki ATF, smooth gear changes 5. Change Front Suspension Problem: Bumpy ride, harsher than usual, abnormal knocking sound coming from under the car Solution: Changed to stock Monroe Original Suspension, ride is so smooth and quiet now 6. Change parts of the cooling system (radiator fan motor, radiator hoses, some part that connects the coolant to the engine) Problem: Corrosion, lots of it. Loud sound coming from radiator fan motor Solution: Changed every single part that shows sign of corrosion, coolant leakage. Engine seems cooler now. Runs more efficiently 7. Change Brake Fluid (Brake fluid bleed and renewed to DOT4) Problem: Spongy braking even with racing brake pads, paranoid because of the bad weather now Solution: Full bleed of the system. Can see a different in the colour of the fluid. Old-Dark brown New-Light Gold 8. Change Engine oil and oil filter (and associated washers and drain bolts) Problem: Overdue oil change, previously running on Schnell 5w-40 Solution: Changed to Mobil Gold 0w-40, engine feels so smooth now 9. Change Air con filter Problem: Old and full of dust and leaves Solution: Changed to new stock filter, aircon very cold and sweet smelling now. 10. Coolant Flush, Change coolant Problem: Old coolant, haven't changed for a long time Solution: Drained radiator, flushed, changed to Toyota Red Coolant, "burp" system to remove air, cooling system feels very efficient now. 11. Change steering bushings (something related to the steering and suspension) Problem: Knocking sound, worn bushings Solution: Change! 12. Final checks, wheel alignment, clear error codes and reset ECU. My final thoughts: I think that the car has gained its "legs" again, performance, efficiency and acceleration feels good and all is well. I'm very pleased that they replaced the stuff that needed changing with original Suzuki parts. Very impressed with the work done to my car and the professionalism of the team. Was there by my car for the whole job and was given constant feedback on the state of affairs. Ordering of spares was done very efficiently and smoothly, very prompt. The team had a sense of urgency and were intent on getting the job done. As for the price: I don't know yet because I haven't gotten the bill. =) So where did you go for service? ↡ Advertisement

Popok 1st Gear April 17, 2012 Share April 17, 2012 just curious, how much would engine mounting & belting cost? What would be the signs that it needs replacement? Gotta visit Riverview soon!
Huntsman Neutral Newbie April 17, 2012 Share April 17, 2012 Engine seems to rock with forward acceleration. Juddering and groaning sounds coming from engine bay. Belt wear might take the form of squealing. Alternatively you can check to see if it is cracked, frayed or loose. ↡ Advertisement
