Isn't the brake light there to indicate stopping?

How else do you indicate stopping? Do you first turn on the hazard lights, and then stop ?

To stop, I will first step on the brakes, this brings on the brake lights.

And then I engage reverse-gear, which brings out the white-colored lights.

I do agree with all contributors saying courtesy on the roads is a must. And I do that until someone shows me otherwise, ie, are discourteous to me.

So, to me, the logic is, I was in a car park, which usually means I am looking for a place to park. Why follow closely behind me. Both times which I described, the carpark was not crowded.

And it was not as though I was moving quickly, and then suddenly stopped when I see an empty lot.

To me, those 2 drivers obviously wasn't paying attention to cars in front of them, and therefore came too close. By accusing me of not having my hazard lights on, I feel is a damn-poor excuse.

To step on the break does not mean you want to stop but slow down especially for auto gear car which may not even need to step on the gas when driving in car park.

When you are in car park, it is not necessary mean you are looking for a lot to park.

Hazard light does help to convey the message better so please start using it. By the way hazard light also mean "Thank you".
