Heavier Penalties for Motorised Bicycle Offences

LTA should build a purely bicycle track only around the island.

Let those who wants to use it, use it; and stay off the main roads.

Then there will be no conflicts between cyclists and drivers.

The only conflicts will be among the cyclists themselves.

The next question is who's going to pay for it ?

Certainly, not the cyclists.

They already felt entitled to use the main roads for "free" while the drivers are complaining they pay road tax but not the cyclists.

Land is precious on the island.  There is no reason to built additional lane for cyclist.

Even with bicycle track, there will still be conflict between cyclist and drivers.

When the lane is filled with slow cyclists, faster cyclist will move to road.  LPPL.

It all boils down to lack of enforcement from relevant authority

I wonder why the majority of the people here are against bikes sharing on pedestrian walkways and yet the authorities is so adamant of allowing it. It is either people here are the minority of Singaporean or the authorities are being forced by much higher authority to implement it. :a-noway:

All these ebike accidents are hit and run, they know the victim or the public cannot catch up to them on foot.

All these pmd are not effecting car lite. Most of the adopters are not drivers, but pedestrian or public transport users. Have the authority studied the trend?

Singapore is way behind developed countries and even China in term of creating road network suitable for cycling.

Finally one fatality - I think unfortunately it will take a few more before the car-lite proponents jokers wake up to review the policies or step up enforcements.

I recommend caning for those with illegal bikes and broke the rules esp on pavements.

Coz old man to die is a very serious incident.

The perpetrator should be caught, charged and sentenced as a deterrent to others.

E bike has been on the road before car lite.  This is due to lack of enforcement.

The biggest problem for Singapore road system is LACK of enforcement.

W/o enforcement, whatever rule is just talk only.
