Gotten a 2nd hand Marbella from another user. So far so good for use in SG and MY.

If you need maps outside SG, then of course Garmin but price wise and function wise is much higher.

And, there's the PC show happening just tomorrow!

Do drop by to see what are the GPS on sale there [;)]

I was looking for a portable GPS to replace my old Shinco one. So I looked at a few models (online), namely the branded ones like TomTom, Garmin and Holux. Then I happen to stumble upon an FB post by agis about a trade-in offer for one of their sets. My only experience with agis was when I was using a friend

finally decided to get a standalone gps as my nokia 6110 navigator is outdated liao.

i'm looking for a good gps for usage in sg and my..any recommendations? i'm looking at garmin ones cuz i heard u can update the maps free. but too much models to choose from abit blur.

any other brand tats equally as good and can update maps FOC?

pls share! :D:D:D

I recommend Shinco anytime as it comes with Map King free update free for life. My last two happen to be Shinco and I am really happy with them. Satellite detection is much faster than any other I guess (when you are not in basement)!

But one negative is MapKing does not show the speedlimit of the roads you are travelling and gives only warning!

This question has been asked repeatedly, MCFers are kind to response, other forums just asked you to do a search. Anyway, Garmin for me, hands down.

Apparently the Aigo has lifetime free map update. Update can DIY. I just find the Aigo to be very different but in good way. I mean, its not just a one-way device. I think the GPS PND market is shifting towards data connectivity. The aigo is the 1st I know of that can be a tracking device and allow the user to share his/her location via SMS. I think all PND is design with the same purpose, which is to guide drivers to their destination. The aigo is the same, but with something extra.

I have been using the Papago iPhone application since iPhone 3G (not 3Gs). It keeps updating itself via App Store and even the road towards Kota Tinggi was updated. Unlike 1 yr ago, the updating is more frequently now.

During my usage on iPhone 3G, due to the lousy build in GPS chip, the response is quite slow. Example will be the GPS guide will turn after 5sec you made your actual turn. And instruction is a tad slow too.

However with the iPhone 4, it is a joy to use just like a Garmin. Compared 205W side-by-side and the response of the GPS is so close that you hardly tell the diff. For the nominal fee it command, I absolutely swear by the Papago iPhone App on an iPhone4.

The above is provided if you got an iPhone of course.

AGPS is mostly used to get faster satellite locks. Once its locked on, it runs just on the GPS chip.

I got the Garmin 1350 refurb from www.bestbuyelec.com. $179 and it now comes with Junction View, Lane Assist, Live Traffic Information and Avoidance from LTA. Lotsa good reviews and excellent value for money. Even if you import it directly from USA and buy the Garmin traffic receiver ($89) from an authorized distributer, its going to cost more than $179. I never ever got lost, ever again! :D
