Shingkyo Neutral Newbie December 11, 2010 Share December 11, 2010 hi all, i just had my ge6 brake pad changed today. i changed to normal original one, which i bought from a spare part shop in waterloo centre... went to my usual mechanic and asked him to change... it was not that biting for the first few KMs... it is fine now, however, i smell a very bad odour upon getting out of car... is it normal? or is it that my usual mechanic tightened it so tight that pad rubs against the rotor when the car is moving??? pls advise... im noob to this... ↡ Advertisement

Is the smell from one side only or both side? Is the car going towards one side when hard braking on a straight road? If you can get your hands on a infrared thermometer and measure your brake rotor after each trip, that will give you some idea on if the brakes are functioning properly. Wllim Neutral Newbie December 12, 2010 Share December 12, 2010 It is either you are a "ke long" driver who usually step on brake or the mechanic has not fixed the brake correctly.

Do you mean there is an abnormal original brake pad available? No mention if you saw the Mechanic drained any brake fluid during the brake pad replacement job No mention if you saw the Mechanic fixed every components dismantled back where he dismantled earlier No mention if you saw the Mechanic worked with oil/grease on his hands or wore gloves You may want to feedback to your Mechanic for clarification/rectification
Se17g Clutched December 29, 2010 Share December 29, 2010 hi all, i just had my ge6 brake pad changed today. i changed to normal original one, which i bought from a spare part shop in waterloo centre... went to my usual mechanic and asked him to change... it was not that biting for the first few KMs... it is fine now, however, i smell a very bad odour upon getting out of car... is it normal? or is it that my usual mechanic tightened it so tight that pad rubs against the rotor when the car is moving??? pls advise... im noob to this... It might be mechanic 's fault, It might also be on the material of the pad. Different brand of pad made from different material. Some uses semi-ceramic, non-metallic organic la, titanium-ceramic all sort....maybe it is different type. Thats why.....and new pads need run-in..normally, newly pad run-in is 5000km....try hit 1st and see if still exists bo lor..... ↡ Advertisement
