btw juz realised m'sia fuel also funny.... was in seremban on thurs... pumped v-power 97 for RM$2.30/l

den pumped at 2nd link v-power today b4 coming back to spore n it cost me RM$2.55!!

either there's price discrepancy in diff states, or they increase by 25cents at a go.... more scary than spore sia.... though still cheaper than spore...

Rm2.55 is V-power Racing.

Rm2.30 is V-power 97. They are not the same.. at least for the price.

Now, the prices are so high that even some families cannot afford 1 car. But rich families not affected. So you still get more cars, except its now more luxury cars instead.

In other countries, people may say its unfair because it causes some families not to be able to afford cars while rich ones continue to buy more (it doesn't affect them).

But then this is Singapore. Money talks.

This is also why the whole wide world only Singapore has COE. If its implemented in other countries, I bet there will be protest.

What COE does is to remove the poor from the car population. Make them cannot afford COE. But they are just snapped up by the rich......

So what car population control? I don't know.....

Don't agree with you, car in singapore is a luxury. Quite similar to japan in this aspect, at least you don't have to prove you got a parking lot before you can buy 1. it is supply and demand, if can afford, buy. Cannot, take public transport. Can afford more, buy more, otherwise stick with 1.

Car is a want, not a need. Wherelse roof over head is need (shelter). If you really want a car and it becomes expensive, then work hard for it. You want more, work even harder or learn how to make money.

In every country, no such thing as everybody owns a car too. Be it USA, china or even Myanmar, Laos.

I don't agree with you. In other countries, usa or china, car is very 'cheap', and most of the time is a need not want and ppls treat it like a transport.

In Singapore, it use to be a luxury in the 90s, not now anymore. U take public transport before? when u drive, unlikely u will go back to public transport. Why? becos trust me, its fill with FT now, i feel i'm in other country. i will be very keen to suggest to remain MRT to FRT.

Also, those who cannot afford will had a hard time; but that doesnt mean they will forgo car, right? They will find other mean, and once they finally own, they will likely drive 20 years, right?. Those middle or rich (how much is 50 or even 100k to the rich, they buy properties in term of million, am i right?) will continue to buy more, every members in the rich family will own one, the rate will still growth and the population will stay (even more) but the inbalance will surface.

COE cannot resolve any problem, growth rate or total car poplulation. Beside it create alot of side problems; example ppls become more picky over small issuse on thier car, demand better service, act proud because its exp. What does it prove, other the the amount of 'money' earn over increase COE price, correct?

I am praying for minimum $20/ entry for ERP gantry. My job cannot be late. Govt should set negative growth of 3% and in 5 years time, the road will have less car.

I can agree with you to abolish COE. Everyone should be free to buy car.

OK. Can you make a good prediction, what will happen to Singapore next?

USA and China, you check out the population density? New York and Shanghai everyone owns car and car is cheap? Please compare similar population density and the price of cars, even our neighbour Malaysia in KL also has this problem. Whats more the jam is horrendous.

I take public transport on weekends, I drive for work. FYI when I take public transport (not taxi), I bring along stroller also and squeeze together, I have a baby that can't even talk yet, not less walk. There will ALWAYS be an imbalance, but what are needs and what are wants? Car is not a need, shelter, house is a need. Be it rental, owned or otherwise.

COE cannot resolve all problems, but it limits the number of vehicles on the roads. There are only so many COEs, you can afford buy more, cannot don't buy. For people who are anal, they will always be pricks no matter if they own a car or take public transport, you took public transport and kenna those who refuse to give up their seats, or worse say their bags deserve the seat more than you or the pregnant woman? How about those who sleep on the seats, I mean lie down flat on the seats even when the public transport is crowded.

I don't mind debating this with you, why not you suggest how else you can limit the number of cars on the roads and make everyone happy and own cars? LSL tried it his way, make cars cheap but driving expensive, in the end does not work. So have now its worse than the LKH method of just making cars expensive. Now it is a combination of making cars expensive and also making the driving exprience expensive to curb both ownership and use.

Please indentify the needs and wants of life, food on the table, drinkable water, electricty with a flick of a switch, housing, branded clothes, hawker food, restuarant food, holidays etc...

Then everywhere will be gridlock traffic, everything will slow down, you recieve your parcels late, your goods almost never arrive, you no longer have fresh produce (meat and veges), country gets covered in smog, to go from Pasir Ris to Jurong you take about 4 hours, many many more accidents, your insurance really really shoots through the roof, you need portable toilet in the car... etc.....

ARF+custom duty was already implemented long time ago to make cars unaffordable, making Spore cars the most expensive in the world. Then come COE, for what? Want to make Spore cars the most expensive in the universe is it?

Haha.. Then the same bunch of kids will start a new tread in MCF..

"Vote wisely in coming election as the current govt caused the gridlock."
