Need help on electrical issue

Hello,

 

If i have a 220v 50Hz electrical lighting from China,

can i use it in Singapore since we are 220-240V 50Hz,

will it cause any problem?

Our standard here is 230VAC.

 

The buffer 220-240VAC should be from the product, not the source.

 

Yes, it should work but not recommended. It's over voltage.

If you're worried, you can always import your lightings from China as it is, then go to those lighting shops here to buy the transformer.

Each costs about $10-$20.

Then get your electrician to replace them before hanging the fixtures.

 

It's still cheaper than buying the lightings here.

 

And it is safe to use even if you do not want to change them.

Based on the nominal voltage, there is usually a tolerance of +-10% to play with, so the 220V you have shouldn't pose much of a problem.
