Is it safe to drive after frame damage?

Been in a head on accident n the front of the car totally disfigured. Luckily, engine still there but not sure if there is any internal injuries. workshop claim front wheel aligment affected too. Airbag was out n they claim repair is going to be costly. Wish to ask those experts out there, if my car is being repaired, with the frame damaged before is it safe to carry on driving?

i would assume you are claiming from insurance....so they will decide if it is worth repairing or total lost...right?? And of course if the workshop cut corners...and the insurance surveyor allows them to go cheap by repairing something that should not be repaired....they will be in big problem if something happen to you...

If your engine internals are still ok, then I think the impact is not great enough to have affected the structural frame of your car.

Normally if ur Chasis of your Car is Damage! They wont even repair, they will send it to the Garage. Singapore Law is like this Engine Damage change new 1 but Chasis Damage change new car

Not sure but workshop said aligment and suspension need to repair. I also heard him say car cannot reverse. The workshop advisor said need to dismantle the parts to find out more. Wat questions do you guys suggest I should ask to determine how serious the damage is?

Without pics its quite difficult to gauge. But IMHO, alignment will definite go off in an accident. Car cannot reverse? Maybe gearbox damaged or suspension components damaged (likely to happen in frontal accident). Frontal damage is always more serious than it seems because front is designed to crumble. They probably have to pull back the chassis. It shouldn't be too big of an issue. Side impact is the worst cause it can cause chassis to warp.

Think you should check your terms and conditions of car insurance policy if it have a 1-to-1 exchange for car that are totalled within the 1st year....since your car is only a month old.

Claiming total lost is very very expensive....... I don't know if the insurance company will do that or if TS wants. Cause the premium is going to kill and no other insurnace company will want to insure him.

Oh.. No no. This is 2nd hand car n I juz bought it for lesss then a month. I will try to load the pictures tomorrow. To make things worse, I have filed for insurance because I m crossing my fingers that it wi be total loss. Now hearing u guys seems like can be repaired. I have yet to receive the call from authorized workshop. Because is a PI I can't bring back to kah motors but had no choice to bring to authorized workshop

A good workshop should be able to advise you on how will the repair be done and the condition of the will be after the repair.

It is true lah. Had TS's was new and the policy have a 1-to-1 exchange...I would have opted for that and pay super high loading (maybe around $5k-6k/yr) for the next few years...cos safety is more important. Unless I was to have a cheap repair and sell the car....

Happened to me too. Can repair. Get a reputable workshop who specialises in chassis alignment and measurement. Still, it won't be 100% perfect of course. But 90% - 95% or even more is definitely possible.

According to the insurance, i hae send it to authorised worksop - ST** at Jln Boon Lay, is that considered good?
