Try this for your auto gearbox.

After reversing, DON'T shift to P, instead shift to N. And then one smooth go to P without engaging R. This should solve a lot of thugs and jerks. Try it!

thanks will try this...

Rule of thumb.

Engage P only at the last sequence when car is stationary and foot off the brake pedal with only handbrake engaged.

Doesn't matter lah. As long as you release foot brake after pulling hand brake, it doesn't make a difference what pattern you want to use.

You believe you are saying the same thing as I did.

If the foot is off the brake pedal how to shift to "P"?

well not all vehicles requires brake to be depressed to shift. Citroen & bmw are one of those.

Yes it is haha.

But some people got a lot of pattern one... must shift to N first, then pull handbrake, then let go of foot brake in case car move, then finally shift to D.

Yes. I had been doing this for a few years already.

This will ensure car always lock on the handbrake and not on the P.

For car with electronic parking brake, not sure does this work. as I never own one yet.

Now I can't remember if it was taught during driving lessons. Ever since I started it has always been shift to P, pull handbrake, then release foot brake. No wonder some of my friends have this problem with shifting out of P, I always tell them your gearbox going to uplorry liao cos I never had this problem  [laugh]

Hi,

My car also have this problem during parking. Whenever I engage R from D or D from R, the car jerks (no thug sound)...

In addition, when I'm driving in Auto, when the gear shifts, I get a jerk (no thug sound)

What's the reason?
