Sometimes when I see a doctor, I don't finish up the medicine.

I look through my medicine collections just now, and found that I actually have a pack of Famotidine unconsumed.

Just popped 1 tablet to see if it helps.

1 hour has passed, and the Famotidine seems to have helped alleviate the pain slightly.

I had heart burn and acid reflux except when I eat those 3 course

western meals that start with a hot soup and garlic bread cos

it brought up all the air by burping b4 I ate the main course.

So I try to have a hot soup before a meal or a really big mug

of hot tea, milo or ginger tea etc before a meal. I worked out if I got all the air

out b4 eating a mealI will not get heart burn or acid reflux. Not sure if this will work

for other people but can try if u like. :D

Hi brother

For heartburn its usually indigestion... don't eat and fall asleep... Do not overeat and eat at regular timings... If you have not been eating regularly example over the last two weeks you had 2 meals a day and this week you are on holiday and you suddenly overeat example you want to whack buffet or 3 big meals or 5 meals then high chance of this problem... Cos your stomach has become smaller so if you want to eat 5 meals, it has to be smaller meals...

I had this problem just last month when I had 1-2 meals a day then I went to Penang and whack 3 big meals, and I had this problem... One of my friend is a doctor, the other pharmacist so they were with me on the trip, thank God!

For relief of indigestion/heartburn buy antacid tablets... get those that is for both heartburn and wind... its alittle more expensive but it is better.... also get some satchets of eno (ginger flavour cos it combats wind also) and carry around with you

Avoid cold drinks after hearty meals for the whole week and over the next 4-5 days avoid fried food or food harder to digest like pork and beef steak... Go for chicken or fish but not fried... I took keow teow soup as well as ban mian soup for 2-3 days...avoid yellow noodle... as and when you are starting to feel discomfort in your tummy drink HOT water... avoid coffee and tea for the time being... Milo or Holicks still ok, peppermint tea can help too... but NO coffee and tea cos its on the acidic side even if you drink teh C or kopi C doesn't help... But after the heavier meal or if you cant buy soupy food and end up with economic rice or some other food that is ALITTLE BIT oily, then the only tea you can drink is CHINESE TEA or Peppermint tea... only this 2 types of tea for the time being while you are on a restricted diet... If you are going to meet friends for teh at prata stall then you can only order Halia O (hot ginger water)

Take yoghurt, plain only... take it once a day for a month... should see improvement...

As for knee cap comfort, if you are running often you might have to lay off running for about a month... If you are doing mountain climbing or trekking you might have to laid off a while... the only excercise you can do for the next one month is swimming... Wear comfortable and proper footwear.... buy good and comfortable shoes and sandals as it provides proper cushioning... sandals buy teva brand.... and most likely you need to lose weight about 5-7kg at least, if you have health problems please consult your doctor and yes lay off soya beans or by product of soya beans....

Folks,

Getting old and can feel that health starts to fall apart. First it was heel spur, then followed by occasional kneel cap discomfort and now could feel the pain of heart burn and acid reflux.

This heartburn sensation has started to bug me more frequently than it used to. If you folks happen to know of any effective remedies which work well for you, would appreciate your sharing. Is there any off-the-counter supplements/medicines which we could buy at Guardian?

*Sigh* Looks like it's time for me to start preparing a will.

I start having Heatburn or acid reflux since 2002.

I didnt know that what I was suffering was heatburn until recently only. But along the years, i gather some experience on how to handle it.

I often has heatburn on a monthly basis... and each time it can span over 4-5 nights. When I have heat burn I cant sleep at night.. it is damn painful, as if the stomach digestive acid is acting on yr sore intestine walls till 4pm++ in the night, keep blurping and many time vomit and causing me to be listless the next day or late for work.

Things to avoid

1) Chicken rice--- The rice very oily, for me got 70% chance of gastric

2) Avoid smoking too much --- it only make the situation worst.

3) Please avoid buffel-- last time I eat buffel can eat up to 4time the size of normal meal, next day Gastric...

4) Dun eat and sleep

5) For me, I stop eating once I have heatburn. Skip the dinner meal. and Should be alrght the next day, but watch what u eat in the next morning and afternoon. I tried eating and this severly aggravated the situation in the late night.

I always rush to guardian to buy famotin which could control my situation. The presciption ask me to take 1 a day, I took 6 a day.

Gaviscon provided quick relief but not enduring agains pain

is chronic cough part of the symptoms

I used to have coughs which could last for many weeks.

Later, I discovered that my cough was due to my sensitive nose.

The liquid from my nose dripped internally and cough was resulted as this internal dripping irritated my throat.

Finally, I found that I could solve this problem by drinking hot ginger tea. This plain ginger tea helped to "dry" up my body and my coughing problem was solved as a result.

BTW, the ginger tea I bought came in the form of tea bag and is the non-sweetened type. It could only be found in selected Chinese medicine shop.

Most shops sold the sweetened type which wasn't too effective for me.

You guys have pointed out certain points which I am guilty:

1. Eat too fast. I am always the first to finish my food.

2. Late dinner at night without giving sufficient time to disgest before going to sleep.

3. coffee.

For me, it usually after lunch. Try not to lunch in, and finish 3/4 of what was served :D

I have chronic cough for past one month. The first time was in 2002 when I went to see specialized at SGH and after seeing so many doctors, eating medication and test nothing conclusive. The medications are not helping also. Now my cough is back and its seems another long torture for me. I can cough till I feel like vomiting .

stay away from food or by products of high citric acid fruits like lemon, lime and orange... as well as fruits or by products that has sap such as mango, jackfruit, kiwi and soursop... coffee as well.. no cold drinks..

my aunt has chronic cough so i see her quite poor thing... drink lots of water at least 10 glasses a day and get mints as well... cos cough is easily induced with a dry mouth or certain high alkaline or acid food or by products...

try swimming but dun over exert yourself... do it during afternoon time.. swimming helps open up your lungs.. please take care of yourself...

oh traditional chinese says no chicken in diet as well... (as in the food for those who are not thinking straight)

Use to have chronic cough for many months and morning sure got phlegm. The ones that don't go away after recover from a flu.

After I started jogging and exercise strenuously, these symptoms all gone..
