Hi All Bro,

Just want to share my experience of SP in JB, so that you can be more aware if you intend to do it there.

I have done my SP in an audio shop called TRC, which is also the authorized dealers for Ultra racing strut bars.

I did my 4 doors (2 layers), floor, wheel arc and boot for RM 1180 (abt SGD 500). Resonably priced.

They are using a SP material called Z-MAX which i can't find any information online, but according to the boss, it's a korean product. Mega champion is also usign the same product for SP.

An advise to all:

- it is advisable that you do a discussion with the workshop what you would like to do, make an appt and arrange very early the nex day so that they can start work asap. i arrived at the shop at around 11pm in the noon, left my car there then went back to the shop in the evening after dinner. as the boss tot im not staying in JB over the weekend, he promised me to finish the work the same day. In the end, i waited at the coffeshop besides it till almost 5am the nex morning! . i think he should have at least asked me whether do i want to leave my car there so that they can continue the work tml. In the end, rushed work is always bad. when i got back my car, i see some clips broken, some lose parts here and there. the bitumen sheets stick on were not pressed hard against the panel. I also did some of my audio upgrade, so they took a longer time to complete my car.

- running towards the completion, they ran out of the SP material, so they juz cut and paste abit here and there on my boot.

- i also did indicate i wanted to do my firewall, but i did not see them removing my front panel, and the price dun seems to includes it. So it will be good that you write down the job scope and have it agreed with the boss prior to start work.

- only bitumen is used, i feel SP should be combined with insulation foams for better effect. So in the end, the results is not really what i have expected.

Guess i should have done more homework and research before i do my SP.

As i've mentioned, the intention of my post is to advise other drivers who are considering to go in to JB to do their soundproofing. As the title of this thread suggest, this thread is to discuss share their experience doing SP in JB.

So who the s--t are you to criticize me on what i want to do. If you have no prior experience in doing SP in either SG or JB, pls don't even comment about it. Even most of the WS in SG use only sound dampening mats, they do not add another layer of foam.

In your other posts, you also mentioned about going in to JB to pump petrol, car servicing, car wash, groceries shopping. Many of us do the same, just trying to save abit here and there to live by in this high living expense city right?
