Replacement Tweeters

I had just transferred my audio system from a previous ride to my current ride.

during the installation of the speakers on my current ride, the workshop had informed me that one of the tweeters for the component speakers at the rear is not working anymore, so i had asked them not to install the tweeters.

The midrange and crossovers for the rear doors were installed, but without the tweeters, the rear passengers can only hear muffled vocals and music.

as an novice audio fella, i ask these questions...

1. can i buy these tweeters and install them in place of my faulty tweeter?

Amazon tweeter

2. will the crossovers for the existing speakers be able to link up with these replacement tweeters?

3. should i buy a new set of component speakers instead of just these tweeters?

foon audio workmanship is good but you need to pay a price for it.

a few months back i went there to solve a aeroplane noise, the previous installer said my amp is spolit which i dun agree.

after hearing good comments on foon audio i went there, foon is able to solve my problem due to poor wiring.

he redo all my wiring and i upgrade a pair of comp speakers and a 2nd hand amp but price is not cheap,he did not pressure me to buy.

so chinese saying one price $$ one price good...but i am happy with it.

wonder if Foon can sue you for libel for your emphatic declaration in this online post that he is a fool.

a screen capture of your post has been taken for use as case evidence if needed.

you don't need component speakers at the rear. period.

what's important is the front. which audio shop did you go to? hope its not that one at Sin Ming.

for sedans....some believe that coaxial speakers are good enough. however, for MPVs and SUVs, the 2nd row and 3rd row may not hear the vocals that well. hence i've always used components for my rear speakers. previously, i had installed the tweeters at the rear 3rd row windows for my SUV...and got them to point forward.

i patronised a shop in sin ming. blk 29. and their workmanship is much better than another shop which used to operate at balestier road.

can juz get replacement tweeters..shouldnt be expensive.

Foon audio is good, i used to frequent him when he was working for another installer.

these tweeters come with their own crossovers...and i'm not sure if it is compatiable with the crossovers for my mid-range.

Tweeters are plenty in Singapore!

Just buy a pair.

Normal ears cannot tell the tonal differences in the new tweeters. New components speakers are not expensive, $150 can get new set!

i don't know of any shop who sells tweeters. the installer for my car does not sell tweeters separately from the midrange, and they wanted to sell me pioneer component speakers for S$150. the problem is that my midrange is working fine and all i need is tweeters. i think its a waste to throw away my midrange...as i paid a lot more than S$150 for them.

this is the question which i am trying to find the answers for. is it possible to match a tweeter set with an existing midrange. each has its own crossovers...and probably even the sound range.

My view is that components are meant for staging. It allows the sound to be staged at ear level of the intended listener (typically the driver) instead of having muddy sound at the feet.

There is no staging needed whatsoever at the rear. That makes the cost and use of components unjustified. Therefore if all u want for the rear passengers are clearer sound, get a pair of coaxials will do.

Adjust the fader such that the rears are loud enough for the rear listener yet soft to such extent that it won't affect the front stage.

That's just my view but to answer your question, u can either get a new pair of the same tweeters or buy a new set altogether. If you are not running active, its not advisable to match a tweeters to a crossover that is not made for it.
