GLZT 6th Gear November 25, 2010 Share November 25, 2010 I just got my bumper kissed by a civic just now. So sian, went to report police, police say just report insurance company. Since not really that guy fault, and he requested private settlement, so I gave in. Would like to know is there any stunt that guy can pull for private settlement? ↡ Advertisement
Nicholas 5th Gear November 25, 2010 Share November 25, 2010 Did you get him to sign anything to confirm private settlement? If not, he might report to insurance company, and if he did and you didn't you could be in trouble. Who knows what stories he might have made up. By right have to inform insurance any accidents even for private settlement. See question 4. Not sure which idiot made those questions in caps.... http://quote.wheels.sg/MotorClaimsFramework_FAQs.aspx

GLZT 6th Gear November 25, 2010 Author Share November 25, 2010 Yeah, never sign anything. Gonna report tommorrow, but I cant really decide on claim or private settlement, its not really up to me to decide either cause I'm driving my brother's car. Though I told the guy okay when he ask for private settlement, kind of guilty if my brother go ahead and claim him.
Nicholas 5th Gear November 25, 2010 Share November 25, 2010 Anyway, what you mean by not his fault? If want to report for claim or just informing the insurance co, please let the other party know. If it happens to you, you wouldn't want someone to say settle privately, then later found out you "kenna" claimed.
GLZT 6th Gear November 26, 2010 Author Share November 26, 2010 Yeah, its actually his fault but I feel many of us will actually make that mistake, I was exiting the filter lane, then a speeding van was coming, so I brake normally. I think he was too focus on the on coming traffic and thought I drove out of the filter lane already.

Anyway just claim him to save further troubles later.

True, but sometimes I tend to make that mistake as well, fear of speeding oncoming vehicle.

See other cars for what? Even if the on coming car is far far away, but if the first car no confidence to move out, we still have to wait.
Tonyg Clutched November 26, 2010 Share November 26, 2010 I also got my bumper kissed on 24th Nov 2010 7.30 pm at BKE by a big pickup driven by FT on a rainning night. To my surprised my Civic bumper not even dented only dislocated and minor scratches. The boss of the company settle with me on the bill. There is a standard insurance form to be signed by both party not to claim each other insurance and agreed to be in pvt settlement.

Both parties have to be there to sign the form together or we can sign them separately?

Marvelicious 3rd Gear November 26, 2010 Share November 26, 2010 Certain car models are made to take light bumps. My Renault is one of those. The car body is plastic not metal, it will warp on impact, as in absorb. I got kissed on my bumper when I was in the checkpoint coming back to singapore, it was bumper to bumper traffic. I came out, inspected my car and was surprised that there was no crack, nothing whatsoever, not even a scratch. Obviously the culprit was happy as hell. This is one great thing about Renaults.
