Carbuyhelp Neutral Newbie November 25, 2010 Share November 25, 2010 If you have been used to driving manual transmission for so many years, it is really kinda awkward to switch to an automatic. It will really take a few weeks or maybe a few months of using an automatic to get used to it.
Swiftee Clutched November 26, 2010 Share November 26, 2010 I also thought the same way before that no prove no claim. Until I encountered this situation. I hit some one very lightly but totally no damage. So we stopped the cars and the other guy keep taking photos. I thought no damage so he cannot claim. But in the end the insurance company paid him cuz he got the workshop invoice got some bar inside the bumper damaged. End up he claimed more than $1000. Including respray of his bumper cuz he claimed that got hairline cracks in the bumper but cannot be seen in the photos cuz photos not clear enough. U are lucky he just claim u $1K+. It can be worse for some other cases.

Spurman Supercharged November 26, 2010 Share November 26, 2010 There was once I sat on my bro car, he couldnt jam brake in time and hit an avante infront lightly. I was pretty sure there was contact, my dad just say dont do anything until the guy come out. Surprisingly the avante just drove off but no visible damage was seen from the inside of our car. Sometimes if no visible damage, just f off the best. It's only a car body. If no cracks, no paint drop. It will be unreasonable to yell at the other party n demand for claim right. Singapore already so stress. But there r ppl who still wan2 make a mountain out of a mole. I was a driver like the avante as mentioned above. I went down inspect, freaking nothing happen to my car at all leh. The other party was apologetic though and admit his fault. his front bumper actually got dented. Since no damage for me. Just smile and go off lar.
Crazecow Neutral Newbie November 26, 2010 Share November 26, 2010 (edited) i also kena.. kaoz.. claim me 1.8k in damages where i see no damage at all. in fact, i might not have touched his car lo.. insurance company just replied that its 100% my liability.. next time i know what to do alr if i wan to change rear bumper.. If such a case you must take photos and write in black and white that there is no damage. Then cannot claim anymore. There are lots of fraud claims now. Then must take down name and contact and address as well. Edited November 26, 2010 by Crazecow

He may get out and laugh at your crumpled car I think my dad car also quite hard, its 1.5tonne. Edited: My bro was driving my dad's car. It is true that, any light kiss of bumper will result hairline cracks. We might not spot it immediately but when bring to workshop on the next day, with proper light, the workshop guy will teach us how to see. Handphone camera does not have the resolution to show the hairline cracks. So, the picture will look perfect. But $1k is bull price indeed.
Pelican 1st Gear November 26, 2010 Author Share November 26, 2010 the thing is when people slightly kiss your car butt, you let them off. but when you slightly kiss others butt, will people let you off? if lucky meet someone who is graciously enough, but most often you will meet someone using the opportunity to change bodykit bumper. Jay1980 1st Gear November 26, 2010 Share November 26, 2010 Recently, a comfort cab hit into my bumper, I went down and inspect, and found a few scratches, but the taxi driver just act blur and say it gentler hit only and tell me the scatches can be remove by waxing. And I am stupid enough to let him off without getting any details. When I reach home then realize the the scatches can't be removed and there's paint ripped out . And I have to dig my own pocket to respray the whole bumper

Hamburger Hypersonic November 27, 2010 Share November 27, 2010 Agree. Automatic transmission cars have got many times more accidents than manual transmission cars generally frankly don really care AT vs MT, more concern about possibility of a robber springing out with a parang to rob. This is the proven antic used by them.......
Xspace 1st Gear November 27, 2010 Share November 27, 2010 I got kissed once by a mini-van during a totally slow traffic jam. The drive is a male AT, and he was talking on his mobile. I looked at my car and it seemed fine, then I thought I still take down his particulars. After that I called a friend who is experienced in accidents (LOL). He told me did you check the sides of your bumper which I didn't... After that I drove slowly, waited, and followed the van back to his factory. Then I checked my bumper sides and indeed it protruded abit, my car was less than 1 month old then. After that I went to talk to that AT driver, wow, he totally bo chap and denied (I have fotos though). Pissed me off totally, and I asked to meet his boss immediately. He tried to chut pattern but eventually he finally budged because (1) all the office staffs were saying loudly, "wah, he accident again?" Meaning the AT driver is a repeated offender. (2) I said, if you don't want to settle privately, I will claim your insurance ; repairs, time lost, etc... So what I am trying to say, if you bang into somebody and you know you are wrong, please take the responsibility... Okay, thanks for reading the WOT... Z750 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2010 Share November 27, 2010 (edited) My car got hit by a lorry driver who forgot to pull his handbrake after stopping at the traffic light. 3 little paint chips and a dent on the top of the bumper. He admitted his fault, agreed to pay the following week because he did not have the cash at the moment. Took down his phone number, vehicle reg no and company name. Resprayed and repaired the bumper for $120. Got the receipt with the actual amount paid, showed it to the other party, who paid as promised. After hearing all the nightmare stories about fraudulent claims, both from the driver who is at fault the the other party, I didn't expect such a hassle free settlement. And I supposed the lorry driver was also worried I would ask him to pay for a new bumper and medical fees! :P Edited November 27, 2010 by Z750
Rk98 Neutral Newbie November 27, 2010 Share November 27, 2010 During the rain along Bukit Timah Road, a lady driver tapped the car brakes every few hundred metres. On the sixth occassion, she actually also stopped her car. I could felt my bumper touched hers. I got down for vehicles damage inspection. She drove off (not knowing what happened?). I got back into my car wet by the shower. On the second occassion, my car somehow inched downhill and touched the bumper of a Police patrol car. It went off like nothing happened?. So lucky X 2? u r really a lucky chap!!!! ↡ Advertisement
