Since ty know pple who usualy send to them r willing to pay much more than normal cos ty ''trust'' then to do a better job n usually these customers r realy ignorant about their cars mechanicals in e 1st place.

 

Just look at thse videos here n u can see how dishonest those mech r. U think those in SG r any better?

More or less we are at their whims and fancy unless we know the fault. Even if I diagnose and tell the mechanic what I want, he will tried and insist on car drive for second opinion. Usually he will agreed with what I want in the first place and if he disagreed then I tell him to try what I want first and if not successful, then his recommendations. DIY is not recommended as I stay in the heartland and could not afford to leave the car dismantle while I scout for spare parts. Just for info, same model but different year equates to different part. The mechanic had unwritten agreement with his supplier to take back incompatible parts, we don't. Do not want to end up with motor spare parts all over the house. [:(]

AD have engine flush, if our engine are damaged we would go back to AD to repair. And thus AD earns yet again from the service that is totally unnecessary. Engine flush is unnecessary, old sludge also built up to my dad's 30 years beetle, still working fine. Here our car lifespan is sadly 10years due to COE, no point doing engine flush or transmission flush.

 

The Jiffy Lube and EZ Lube examples in states are classic man.

For some ws, cheating e customers is e normal practice.

Last Sunday I went with a brother to a Battery and Tyre shop along Serangoon North. The staff quoted $130/- for a small battery. I told my brother, we better go to the next shop. They called their boss immediately. The boss offered $100/- for 35AH battery. $30/- discount for their regular price because I told my brother : let us go to the next shop. The boss quoted me $75/- for 165/60R14 Falken tyre. I rejected Falken tyre, and immediately he offered Yokohama A Drive tyre 175/65R14 at $75/- and 185/65R14 at $85/-. I told him I want 205/65R14 or 195/65R14 which he did not have. If you got no idea, they simply cut your throat and chop you a sheep. The boss said the maintenance battery expexted service life is two years for re-cycling purposes due to latest green technology, and he got no maintainable battery.

Normally after i diagnose problem, i wil buy e parts myself then give to my mech to fix if i cannot change it myself.

 

If i not sure on e problem, i bring to my mech 1st fr his opinion. If we agree, i wil get e parts needed n give to my mech to fix.

 

I dont let e ''whims n fancy'' of my mech to affect my decision but if his diagnose makes good sense, i wil accept it.

 

When u buy parts, quote yr cassis no. code or at least yr model n month/year of mfg n now also country of mfg fr e spareparts shop to get e correct part fr u. Always cfm that if parts r wrong can change or refund to b safe.

 

I get most of e important parts fm authorsed stockist, so not much prob wh wrong parts.

Ty hv been passing e buck to us customers fr too long. I hv brought up several times th ins fraud is not our problem. Its e ins cos. that hv to investigate n take action, which is now being done only.

 

Customers cannot b held responsible fr ins fraud as its beyond our control.

 

The ins cos. hv been increasing our premiums fr too long to cover their complacent n incompetence in increasing claims due to cheating.

 

I think it was a ploy to jack-up our premiums [which was started by auntie Lucy]. Now that ty hv started to report those false claims n their claim costs come down, do u think e ins cos. wil b so kind as to reduce our premiums to what it was b4? I doubt so.

 

I see it as a well planned ploy by auntie Lucy to raise ins premiums across e board in a well disguised con job.

 

I used to use auntie Lucy but since ty hv been increasing my premiums every year, i dumped them fr a better ins co.

But if ty recommend it to ignorant customers, tat is already wrong.

 

Flushing is NOT a part of regular servicing n maintenance recommended by e manufacturer.

 

I remember i had a fuel system flush[on recommendation of e service adviser] done on my Korean car long ago n e car came back worse than when it went in. U can b sure i never went back to e AD fr any more repairs r service.

Yes i hv also come across these small shops that take ''walk-in'' customers to b cheated n conned as normal practice.

 

Now in everything i buy, as far as possible, i check around fr best prices.

 

This applies to non-car related stuff too. Buying stuff in SG is like walking tru a mine-field. 1 wrong step n u get a body part blown off.

Its absurd that many people down know about cars..

 

A toolkit is not the Mach tool,its a "repair kit" which in layman term they call it toolkit.

Basically a toolkit consist of part required to OH an engine or gearbox.

 

And coil is not possible to put wrong wan... The length of the coil is all in different length

So it is not possible to use coil 4 on coil 1 .. So how can Mach put wrong leh...

Ive seen some of e craziest n unbelievable things ws wil do to cheat customers. I come to think some ws can only survive by cheating pple.

Yes but unfortunately the shops now hv e latest type of mines. Cannot b detected by normal mine-sweeping.

 

Thats why i think internet n car forums r good cos we can share n hopefully weed-out those dishonest ws.

BY my own experience, when i bought my 1st car, '91 civic from this certain dealer. i had some minor problems with the car. The dealer referred me to this mechanic. From there, i had to start changing parts. First was the air-con condenser changed 2x, then the gasket, head, electronic board, etc. i made endless trips to the workshop. I realised something fishy was going on. I suspected that the car was taken to the mechanic in the first place before i bought the car and the working parts were replaced with minor defective ones. At the height of my suspicion, i realised it was a scam and i left the place in a hurry. I din even pay the last bill which came to about $800 when I had already spent almost $2k on repairs there. So to all, please beware of not so reputable dealers. Juat a word out to all unsuspecting car buyers.
