To me that blue ws is not consider private.. Don't have to frequent workshop alot, just step in to most workshop and seldom or rarely they will not allow you to view whats going on.

AD and some well known car workshops. U have any good workshop to recommend in the east n west,? You sounds like you frequent alot.

In the east you can try Tampines Safra there, that stretch has a few ok workshops, as for west I cannot comment as I don't head there often except to visit my customers.

hi want to share my experience

on that day i was cleaning my engine bay but somehow after cleaning the engine vibrate very violently and powerless ,the engine is misfiring

i then go to a nearby ws to repair

when i reached there he change my spark plug(my old plug is very old and seem to be damn black ,cover with alot of carbon which may cause the problem) and check ignition coil , ignition coil ok and plug changed but the problem still there.

after that he said might be throttle spoil or ecu spoil , so he changed but the problem still cannot solve.after that he change everything back to my original want.

in the end after wasting half of the day he found out that is just the ignition cable plug wrong (maybe because when i cleaning plug wrong or maybe because when he changing plug he remove all the cable and when put back plug wrong)

so i was very glad that problem solve and when i saw the bill i was shocked it cause $200 [jawdrop]

i asked y he said plug cause $50 labour cause $50 and $100 for refunding the throttle and ecu????i was not using it in the cause it already change back to my original want

am i kena chop? [:/]

Most workshop dont allow customer to watch them service the car citing safety reasons. Of cos i would prefer to watch them out of curiosity and knowledge.

I believe sometimes even layman can notice their Apprentice(s) using wrong tool(s), or practicing trial and error techniques. Worst if the customer a knowledgeable one, and sue the AD for sub-standard expertise (deviated from manufacturer's recommendations/techniques), resulting in damages.

Yes I agree, I think that is the main reason why they don't allow the customers to see it.

Hidden camera shows repair work charged but not done!!!!

Fantastic!!!

In e good ol USA we hv consumer protection groups n tv channels which wil do these sort of things to catch those crooks who cheat consumers n expose them.

If only we hv it in sunny SG. I wonder how many of our ADs n big ws wil b exposed?

I hope we can hv this kind of investigative reporting here. At least less consumers will b ripped off here.

seriously dangerous to let such workshop to service your car...

So many pple r doing it here.

Its very common, only nobody takes e trouble to catch.

Some ws even sabo cars sent to them to earn extra when e mech wil point out e ''damage'' to a motorist n tell them ''must change otherwise might cause accident''.

It even happen to me but e problem is its very hard to prove without hard evidence.

Many motorists dont know much abt cars n wil put their trust in e mech. Thats when e sharp samurai sword comes out to slash e customers throat.

Extinct Massa Motor was the AD for Fiat. After servicing, my car failed VICOM inspection the next morning due to defective brakes. Service Manager of Massa Motor said: you did not tell us your car going for VICOM (no expertise do meet the standard VICOM inspection for roadworthiness?). Is there a need for cheating when they did not have the expertise for the brand distributed? I now believe they called for outside help to do the brakes

Ive seen some ws where e work on our cars r done by clowns.

Its like going to a circus.

Ws employ e cheapest ''mech'' to make more $. I hv been to ws long long time ago where e car comes out in worse condition than when it went in.

Now i never trust especially those big ws as i found them to b very bad. The customers r treated like fools to b cheated at will. Mechs r mostly incompetent trainees only.

This lagi best.

Looks very much like what our local ws r doing too.

Only prob is nobody here bothers to go n catch those b@stards.

Tire n battery shops r just as bad.

Our motor industry is full of liars, crooks n cheats.

B very careful when sending yr car fr repairs or service or tire n battery related work.

For some ws, cheating e customers is e normal practice.

Looks like e mech either dont know what was wrong n waste time or he know but bluff dont know so can charge an inflated bill cos he see u so kuku type.

Either way i dont think its a good ws at all.

so can anyone suggest or know if we can insist on our consumer rites to see our car being service?

really terok...even AD workshop cannot trust?? SIGH!!!

So next time u send car fr service/repair n ty dont let u stand around to watch cos ty say its not safe, u can either trust them or take yr car to another ws.

The choice is yours.

I learnt long ago to never trust any ws.

You got the point. You are right. Many years back a Service Station along Mountbatten Road tried to charge our company for tools (I believed to be misplaced/lost) during engine overhaul (laugh)
