MAZDA 6

Having owned 2 (335, 535, c250, e200) out of the big 3 (German), a Scandinavian (s60) and 2 jap (civic, forester Xt) and now a jap (Mazda 6)...

In Singapore such pricing for car in particular, excluding the TOP range from the âpremiumâ Brand, you donât get anywhere near the 50k more or 100k more car no matter what perspective it is, be it built, handling, look, etc all add up together....

Branding for the most part is psychology and some part substance. So the mid and lower range is mostly selling base on psychology factor.

A bmw 335 and 535 cost easy 80k to 120k more....(not a same timeframe comparison again unique to Singapore pricing structure)...one will never get anywhere near 10 to 20k more car.....the rest of the money goes to........âto each his ownâ...

Comparing based on price range in fultile....

Hard truths that some can't accept. No fortune to own one yet but sat in a few 318s, c180s and once s500. Interior quality of the s500 was superb, the rest were comparable to luxury trims of japanese and korean brands. It's great to own one if have spare cash, else you won't miss out on too much with a cheaper premium jap or korean car (except the badge of course)

Was quoted $599 inclusive of gst to install the android auto for my mazda 6.

Anyone did that and is the experience with AA good or buggy?

There always have after market solution that could be cheaper than AD. As long you search it for own reference.

My AA/CP came with the car. Not buggy, decent speed. One great useful thing to me is waze. That help me alot with the road traffic/condition. It warn me to watch out my speed if you know what I mean. It reduce phone distraction (read message) as I don't hang my phone on windscreen anymore. And you need a good USB (preferably orgininal) cable to make sure it work seamless. I tried cheap data cable it works but disconnected once in a while. Nvr seen the problem after I use the original cable. If only they make this work wirelessly then I say 599 is worth while.

Other than that making phone call, stream music from phone the Bluetooth pairing works well too. As Fteocs bro mentioned, is a good to have. Not a must.

Nothing is free, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, branding is one of the factor that cost a lot more than everything else.

Many people perceive the value of the badge more than anything, some neglect/deny the good thing that others build.

I personally own Mazda 3 and 6, then driven an old Mazda 626 for quite sometime. From old to new, Mazda keep improving their design (some people say copy), especially the interior where driver/passenger touch. I value Mazda car is because the thing i valued versus the dollar I paid.

Like other bros, seating in other friend/colleague car make you compare. One item I compare, the sound insulation. The old Mazda car sound insulation is poor. Even the new Mazda car sound insulation is improving, but it is still poorer than its peer such as the new Camry. Not to mention to compete with the conti car(Not all though). I checking my colleague Lexus car and see why the sound insulation done so well, just the car door itself, it has double layer of quality thick seal, and the seal reachout every corner, top to bottom. New Mazda done better than old, but still no way to come closer when compare with Lexus. However, car price wise? It is easily a 50-60% more, of course it is inclusive the prestige that the badge offer...

As of who copy who? I can only say the car designer moving here and there. And when one gimmick is drawing driver/owner attention, other automaker will just design accordingly, from very niche to mass market ... I couldnt recall which car start to have DRL in a line shape (maybe Audi), then almost all the car will have a line now including Mazda,  Why? Perhaps because most of the driver love it...

Bro, sorry I missed it, I mean PC/computer version.

Sure will try. Thks so much :)

Seems like the convenience of wireless kinda useless.

Also just to ask, the cam has low voltage cut off, but seems like TEK wired it to only start recording when engine starts.

Is there anyway we can wire it to parking recording oso

Yes. You need additional battery to enable the park recording. You can scroll back to the history, we have a bro shared how he DIY battery. :)

How to compare? Bmw n Audi are luxury cars and their agents have fatter margins. Mazda is just a normal jap car

I don't think those low range models of BMW and Audi are luxury models. For example, would not consider Audi A1, A2 or even Mercs A class to be luxury models. Would just consider them as normal conti cars. Aha....but cars likes 5 series, E-class then got some standard to be of luxury model. Drive low range continental cars don't equate to luxury ones.

But not everyone has the capacity to drive E class.

Cannot afford yet want a luxury marque? That's where the A1,A2 and Mercedes A class can fill the niche

Yes, for those who want affordable or cheap contis. But driving those does not mean high SES, owning luxury marques. These brands just wants a share of the market.

I am new to Singapore and know very little about the new car market here. I went to this dealer today to possibly buy a Mazda 6 and they claimed they wouldn’t negotiate any lower than the $111,800 on the Exec. So I walked out.

Based on some comments in this forum it looks like I did the right thing, and $111,800 is a reasonable price for a 2.0 Exec - but not a super bargain.

What have people paid recently for a 2.0 Exec? Or a 2.0 Standard? I really don’t want to overpay!!!

Thanks in advance!

2L exec for 108k but that was bef the certificate of entitlement (“COE”) went up by $3-4k recently. In my personal opinion, if the COE continues to go up north, theres no way the price of 2L exec will go below 108k without giving up on min 3y servicing and warranty. Edited by thesoul

Well you shouldn't be driving in SG since cars are so damn expensive here. A Corolla here can get you a say Mercedes Benz E class in your own country with change to spare. You sure you wanna spend your money in this way?

Our car prices are determined by our gov plus the various big brands authorized dealers. All prices are kept artificiality high in the pretense of controlling car owner/usage in SG.

It is usually impossible to ask for deep discounts on a one on one customer basis. Deep discounts will be determined by the dealer, when and when? We wouldn't know. Any discounts you may get are tiny to the total price u pay. And those discounts are almost certainly from the sales guy own commission margin.

You will OVERPAY for any set of wheels in SG.

Thank u so much. Was thinking can connect direct to our car batt since the cam has low voltage cut out.

Additional battery kinda worrying for me as weekdays i park under the sun scared may heat up n catch fire.
