Rkankc 1st Gear November 7, 2018 Share November 7, 2018 Wow, 140-145k? You referring to PA or PI? Because the list price on sgcarmart for the FWD A4 is $166,980. I understand they usually slash the price further during negotiations but 20k off? My colleague recently traded in her Mazda3 for an Audi A4. She says the A4 is usually $160+k but there was a $20k discount as the AD had to clear an excess shipment. Delivery was also v fast as the cars are already here. ↡ Advertisement

richard_crl032 6th Gear November 7, 2018 Share November 7, 2018 (edited) Guys, can check if which one would you choose if not on Budget selection for either the 2.5l spec new Mazda 6 or new Audi A4. Which one would you prefer in term of drive experience?Hi Zerra, A4 of course if no budget consideration between the 2. Xc40 would nice at current <150k if you can stretched it from at A4 and wants SUV ... turbo or supercharged cars drive differently positively and conti rides cannot be faulted at this midrange category while 2.5l mazda6's ride comfort will be same at 2.0l version. DACH Supersonic November 7, 2018 Share November 7, 2018 I was there earlier and had lunch before heading to the expo as I knew the parking would be crazy. I took a look at the new ES and it blew my mind.. The design, build quality, seat comfort and space is just amazing. My parents sat in the car and they were blown away, even asking me when can I buy one.. Ask them sponsor some.

andrewyewkc 5th Gear November 8, 2018 Share November 8, 2018 If no budget consideration I will without question choose the Audi A6. Since many people (including my respected Richard) has already voted for the A4 I will become the devil’s advocate to argue the case of the M6 2.5. The handling of the M6 2.5 is sublime, I think only BMW is slightly better. It is way better than Merc E Class. The 2.5 has a naturally aspirated engine which will give you’re the most linear response and that Jitta Inbai feeling, you feel one with the car. The 2.5 has the proven traditional automatic transmission that should last you 10 years. VW’s previous DSG transmission was a failure and a recall in some countries. The new one is better but it still does not have a proven history. A4 is almost entry level car for the Audi marque. The M6 2.5 (at least the wagon version) was Mazda’s flagship for some time until the CX-9 came along. A4 is smaller, M6 is bigger. Finally your decision is not just about facts and numbers, it depends on how you feel about the car and who doesn’t want an Audi? To save my time, I just took this from a website (https://www.asburyauto.com/compare/2018-mazda-6-vs-2018-audi-a4/154893) Suspension and Handling For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Mazda 6’s wheelbase is 1.4 inches longer than on the A4 (111.4 inches vs. 110 inches). For better maneuverability, the Mazda 6’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the A4’s (36.7 feet vs. 38.1 feet). Chassis The Mazda 6 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 200 pounds less than the Audi A4. The Mazda 6 (except Sport) offers available computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The A4 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation. Passenger Space Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the Mazda 6 is rated a Mid-size car by the EPA, while the A4 is rated a Compact. The Mazda 6 has 7.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the A4 (99.7 vs. 92). The Mazda 6 has .9 inches more front legroom, 3 inches more rear legroom and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the A4. Cargo Capacity The Mazda 6 has a much larger trunk than the A4 (14.7 vs. 13 cubic feet). Ergonomics The Mazda 6 Auto offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The A4 doesn’t offer a remote starting system. Consumer Reports rated the Mazda 6’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the A4’s headlights, which were rated “Poor.” The A4’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve/Signature’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed. Economic Advantages Insurance will cost less for the Mazda 6 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Mazda 6 will cost $615 to $3275 less than the A4 over a five-year period. According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Mazda 6 is less expensive to operate than the A4 because it costs $56 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost much less on the Mazda 6 than the A4, including $574 less for a water pump, $280 less for an alternator, $46 less for front brake pads, $547 less for a starter, $288 less for fuel injection, $165 less for a fuel pump, $480 less for front struts and $281 less for a power steering pump. IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Mazda 6 will be $9238 to $12950 less than for the Audi A4. Recommendations The Mazda 6 has won recognition from these important consumer publications
DK3410 4th Gear November 8, 2018 Share November 8, 2018 (edited) Also got to do with the higher hip and sitting position of SUVs in general. Easier for people with worn knees and hips to get up and off. Less bending (and back strain) involved for parents getting toddlers into the child seats as well. That's probably one of the reasons for the SUV wave we're seeing. These days drivers who want to haul an entire family overwhelmingly go for a 7-seater SUV as opposed to MPVs. The downside is that the carparks in Singapore (in particular some of the older ones) are ill-designed for long, wide AND tall vehicles (Shaw Centre comes to mind). Even with new funky features like a 360 degree camera or multiple parking sensors, it can still be an exercise in frustration to park a large SUV in one of those car parks. You will inevitably wind up occupying 2 lots and then get your car photographed and posted on Beh Chia Lor for being a parking a**hole. SZ_ford 5th Gear November 8, 2018 Share November 8, 2018 i can tell you love your Mz6 2.5, haha Won't dispute your feel about their handdling as it's very subjective But one fact you may be wrong about, I think Mz6 is 180kg heavier than A4. I'm looking at figures from sgcarmart.
DK3410 4th Gear November 8, 2018 Share November 8, 2018 Not to mention the Mz6 has more stuff that are actually "options" you need to fork out extra for on the A4. For instance: 1) Heads up display 2) Enhanced safety package (Blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, autonomous braking) 3) Ventilated seats 4) Sunroof/ moonroof 5) Smart keyless entry (IIRC Audi has Smart Key and Comfort key, take note got difference de) That's the one thing I don't really like about the German makes. When you test drive, the model they let you test has all the "toys". But the base model you're putting the signature on the line for usually doesn't have them. Unless you're willing to top up for them. In addition, DSG also needs more TLC compared to a conventional auto with torque converter. Try not to let the car "creep" in traffic for extended duration because that causes the clutch to "slip" for extended duration, wearing it out faster than it otherwise would. A dual-clutch gearbox is to be treated like a computer-controlled manual transmission. So the things you wouldn't do on a manual, don't do it on a DSG (like stopping at the traffic lights, gear in 1 and stepping on clutch all the way). Having said that, DSG offers faster shifting, better fuel economy and smoother feel overall than a conventional auto. Engineering is like this, it's *almost* never a best of both worlds, it's always a compromise.

Low omv surprisingly for so many standard nice items vs merc e and bmw 5ers. S90 though priced cheaper but heck omv is 40k or less vs 45k to 50k for 5er n e class. S90 is most powerfuk in its class too. S90 t6 is like 540 in power. Hehe. T5 like 530. Swee. Edited November 8, 2018 by Spurman
DK3410 4th Gear November 8, 2018 Share November 8, 2018 @ Spurman (I can't get the quote function to work properly) The S90 is a nice car but its price point moves it into 5-series, E-class and A6 territory le. At that kind of price range ($200k+), I'd go for a Lexus. Volvo always has good safety features, which is why the Chinese bought them. 1 classmate of mine and a senior colleague both drive the Volvo XC 60. Solidly built and very minimalistic interior. ↡ Advertisement
