Nope, smooth and silent when changing to reverse. Unless what you hear is the sound of auto hold? (You can hear the e-park brake engaging)

Sorry, i think my initial observation wasn't accurate

Just went to test as it's quiet at this hour. Like you said, it's silent when shifting to R

However, there's a creaking/groaning noise as I release the brake pedal. This also happens when I'm in D. (Depressing the pedal is silent.)

Sounds like a brake issue?

Hi guys, how long did your key fob batteries last? Mine lasted only 1.5 years, before low battery warning message started to appear, which I find short, considering that I've also been swapping the 2 fobs every month (i.e. use one and keep the other spare one at home for a month and then swap them in the next month).

Hi kykh,

I only used one fob but changed out battery after 11 mth for my forester cos cannot detect ..keke !

Cheers.

A battery cost only a dollar or two, just get it replaced and move one. After all the battery is so small, dont expect it to last so long. 1.5 years is far too long in my view.

Ouch! Your knife is so sharp....

Anyway, i believe it is not the 'a dollar or two' issue.

The troublesome of finding time to look for a shop that can replace the battery seem to be the issue ba.

It's not a matter of cost, but to verify if this is the usual lifespan of the key fob battery or an issue of leakage that should be addressed. Comforting to know that 1.5 years is too long :)

The fob batteries can be easily replaced by ourselves. Just follow the video clip for those who are unsure::

By the way, I have opened the fob and found its original coin battery to be of type CR 2025 (3V).

I normally buy two-piece package when changing. The second piece will be used for next time or another fob. Driving Mazda 3 with keyless entry, battery lasts around 1 year.

It is not connected to work in parking mode. So it turns off after u off the car so won't be using the battery.

If u go outside and get someone to connect for parking mode directly to battery, I'm quite sure TEK will void the warranty. I asked if they offered battery pack or anything to enable parking mode but they don't.

That’s a bit silly, the cam is also for recording potential damage to the car when it is parked....

my battery last for about 6 months only. It is not a Mazda but i dont think remote technology could be so different.  Subsequently I found out in the forum that if a remote is placed too close to the car in a range that they could communicate with one another, then the battery will get drained faster because of the frequent transmission. Since then i bought spare batteries at home and replace it there and then when i see low bat message.

Hi Sze,

Not sure of other bros and yourself but driving around to me with wannabe racers and blur kings/queens makes it mandatory for me to have event recording to avoid legal hassle and complicated claim .. can always delete if not to my advantage .. lol !

For parked recording, I have it for both cars of mine and wife with added batteries but admittedly never check car if any knock especially with so many reminders of how many recorded events had occur that turns out to be nothing ..every time I start my cars.

In summary, I would not say silly but sure, good to have if available and willing to pay just in case .. including also mandatory added battery if wishes parked recording.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. Car cam for recording during driving is a definite must... would be more reassuring if it also records when car is parked....any other way to get the car cam switched to recording when parked as well without voiding the warranty?

Most AD are taking the same stance - if u tamper with the electrical, they will void the battery and electrical warranty. At least I know Honda also like that when I asked them when checking out the showrooms. Best thing is they don't offer in house installation of battery packs so we have no choice but to go outside.

My last car had the battery pack installed by motor image so they at least honored the warranty. But TEK doesn't offer this service and don't allow outside installation...

Hi Szekt,

Not sure practical but I will not do it ... there were bros who wired thr dvr to portable car battery bank for parked recordingly.

2 issues .. you have to be very disciplined to do this every day if you wish for 24/7 and more importantly, added dvr battery are car-safe of LiP04 chemistry and not the infamous Lithium type like Samsung phone especially if parked under nice hot Singapore tropical sun .. lol !

Cheers.

Any bros that booked early Aug secured the COE already? Seems like a trend not able to secure at second bidding onwards. Understand that shipment is somewhere in Oct but i think COE should be able to secure first.. don’t think that demand is that overwhelming

I don’t think I would fiddle with the stock cam and circuitry.. since it is free just use first and if really there are issues then, would consider how to deal with it....though feeling a bit pessimistic cos I thought I read before how the stock cam is prone to heating etc etc.... spoke to my SE who of course vouched for the current cam (“ previous problems with cam due to previous brand, Papago”) but did admit that quite a few actually requested not to instal the stock cam

Did your car just arrive or here for a while already?
