Hi MZ6 owners, I read the specs that the fuel tank is 62 litres. I have tried a few times to continue driving after the reserve lights up and the range went to 0km. But only manage to pump 53L.

Is that normal?

What is the max liters you guys pumped before?

Normal, because there will be vacuum on top of the tank, that won't fill up,except you 'rock' the car, anyway,it is a very bad idea to drive until very low fuel level, because the Fuel pump will 'overheat'...Modern fuel pumps needs fuel to 'cool' them down...

Wondering how come the new Mazda 6 is relatively rare on the road?

Specs look good and design looks executive and practical.

I see many 2.0. 2.5 is pretty rare. Why?

And yes. It's noisy. I think it's the characteristic of Mazda.

Not so relevant where powertrain considerations are concerned cos most buy the 2.0 L engines... so take that with a pinch of salt... plus trim levels are quite different...

The road tax is a killer.... almost $2000 a year... and the fuel economy is pretty poor for what I consider just a little more power and torque... in our start-stop city roads, or go-fast-go-slow highway traffic conditions, it's a killer for high capacity engine fuel economy...

And it's likely most of our locals don't see a need to pay for the additional equipment...

Yes and that as well... although for that additional equipment, you'll probably want to buy a Korean 2.0 L and skip the Jap 2.5 L...

The Luxury R-Grade Mazda6 is even more opulent than the Sonata and Optima, surprisingly. I do note the SkyActiv Mazda6 is actually rather rare as a whole, I see more of it than the Sonata or Optima, but mostly Mazda3s make up the bulk of SkyActiv population in the island.

That said the Luxury R-Grade is a pricey prospect and that's before you start thinking about the inflated road tax.

Most large car buyers do go for Camry or Conti in this country...

Fuel consumption of the Mz 6 isn't bad for the 2.5L car.  Road Tax is $1786 per year, about the same as a Camry 2.5L.  Both power (189 bhp) and consumption outperforms the Camry.  I have been driving mine for 6 months and have consistently done between 7.2L / 100 km  to 7.7L / 100 km driving only in Singapore.

Yeah, there was a slew of new Skyactiv Mazda 6 registered and then it stopped abruptly. Over-priced I guess. It's worse for the Sonata, hardly any on the road. I do see some. But the new Optima totally none. I really haven't seen a single new K5 Optima on the road... Over-priced of course. There was a narrow window when prices fell and the prices were reasonable but Kia had no Optima to sell then. Hyundai sold a large number of Sonatas then and Mazda too... Now Cat B is dominated by the higher end brands.

Anyway, the papers advertise a new 2017 model. What's changed? I assume it's a face-lifted model.

Well yeah... road tax is a killer... changing that set of 19 inch tyres will be quite a killer too.

But I heard feedback that 2.0 is underpowered.

Fuel economy isn't that bad. My 2.4 Camry is only clocking about 9.5 to 10km/litre only. I believe it can reach 12km/litre without much problem.
