Is it merely a hearsay or its a fact?

Please kindly share your views on it as that will definately help alot of potential car buyers including me on whether is it a suitable time to buy a car now. Thanks. [:)]

more likely than not...look @ the quota n the number of cars scrapped....n the intended/projected car growth...

no or little car scrapped, more new cars on the road, overall vehicle population exceeded allowed quota, how to bring down the growth?

i think otherwise. imagine a high coe price. if renew coe for a 10yr old car, wont it be more bohua? after the extra insurance, maintenance and blah blah? so there could be a rise in ppl scrapping car by then.

I had made some calculation based on data available so far. The monthly COE Quota from Feb 2011 will be

Cat A 830 (decrease 30%)

Cat B 770 (decrease 20%)

Cat C 410 (increase 26%)

Cat D 660 (decrease 5%)

Cat E 620 (decrease 10%)

If only we are allowed to use our balance years of COE to buy a new car, eg if my car is 5 years old and I scrap this car/export it out so I have remaining 5 years of COE and I can use it to buy a new car and drive it for another 5 years. It will still control the number of cars on the roads. But probably the second-hand car market will crash?

hello dear Bros, this forum is just for chit chat so don't need to be so curt right ;)

we are all virtual voices in this forum and do not yet know each other when in reality maybe we are colleagues or friends in real-life.

I merely type "if only...." which doesn't mean I am naive or stupid hor.

or maybe you are mensa members or you have been through everything in life so when compared to me I am just a stupid or naive guy :P

Anyway I come in peace :)

Many will cheong second hand car liao. I see more and more second hand car on the road nowadays.

Even 2nd hand car also not cheap! Imagine a 2nd hand 2008 Fit u buy now even cost more than a brand new Fit bought in 2009. [shakehead]

The COE of my MR2 is ending in Jun 2012..... Looks like its finally time to scrap the car. If COE cost 40-50K, no point keeping it.

GG for the old Jap cars...... Even old conti cars will be affected unless you really have the money for COE renewal.

Clap hands for the gahment......Now if I want to own MR2 I have to migrate oversea....

Its only for now. But 2nd car prices also going higher and higher as well.

So we now are looking at a shift in the type of cars on the road. Luxury brands are getting more and more sales because many who could afford COE could afford those cars.

For those on a tigher budget, they will scrap by with a Jap or Korean car.

Then its also the end of those China made cars. People buy them because they are cheap. But now COE so expensive till people who want cannot afford. People who can afford wouldn't want to buy them. They rather go for better brands.

Then its also a shift of instead of more families owning 1 car. We have less families owning cars but owning 2 or more cars. Rich getting richer, poor getting poorer........

Well done! Well done! Gahment No.1!

The rich upper class will have more free flowing roads due to ERP and COE as they will not feel the pinch.

I feel they are purposely squeezing out the peasants like me....
