Some would say it lost it's Mini roots and possibly drive when it is this huge.

i think they cannot think mini now.  

 

they have to develop more new models/range to cover wider buyers market

probably trying hard to keep their roots

else, they will only have mini segment buyers

 

 

see their prices first.

Same for BMW with the Gran Tourer. A lot of hooha from die hards cos they claim tradition, heritage all lost with this FWD model and it's not a typical BMW. Read yesterday BMW thinking hard on whether to continue this model.

 

Likewise for Mini, it's a niche model and so they have expanded it in a bid to capture more buyers but the niche fans won't like it. Mini could be in a bind cos on one hand, it may mean more sales but on the other hand, will it drive away their loyal followers? Tough call!!

Ever since MIni moves to F series, it has lost some of its Mini Chic design.  I see a lot of BMW ness in Mini.

 

For e.g., door lock switch has always been the central toggle button in Centre console.  Now, it is moved to door card.

 

Among the R series, only countryman is NOT so Mini.  Even Paceman feels more Mini despite being a 2 dr Countryman.

The countryman looks pretty nice.. can consider. The JCW even better.. haha 228hp

 

The boot space is really quite huge.

 

However reviews are quite mixed..

SE told me 2.0T variant is $190k with omv less than $30k

 

Their knives very sharp.. well its a MINI. Have to pay to be stylo n chic
