Torque6 Neutral Newbie November 16, 2010 Share November 16, 2010 On 11/11/2010 at 8:25 AM, Gearoil said: I very afraid of ppl like you. Not becos you think you 'have made it'..at a young age. But becos you have little respect for others, who might not have 'made it' and you definitely think that it was all becos of yourself, with that kind of ability ...that is why you made it! And ppl like you tend to be proud to such an extent that to have some thoughts of being sensitive to less able folks.....doesn't simply exist in you! For example, ppl like you think you can do this and that but when others do the same to you...you will blow heaven and earth. Take it from me kid...you have a very long road ahead. And your road unlike mine...is a much much tougher road that just having more money isn't going to offer you that happiness or comfort in your elder years! Have to agree with this. If there was no family business, there wouldn't even be a personal savings of 8K to start off with. Alot of people were already supporting their family at the age of 20-25 as both father and mother could already be out of work. This quote means alot => "But becos you have little respect for others, who might not have 'made it' and you definitely think that it was all becos of yourself, with that kind of ability ...that is why you made it!" makes great sense. If you are fortunate, admit it. Its ok to be more fortunate than others cause life isn't fair. I mean, how fair was it for me at the age of late 30s to finally own my first car? You guys already know what car I'm driving right now.
Trebuchet Neutral Newbie November 18, 2010 Share November 18, 2010 Sorry but apologies if this has already been mentioned ... Just because parents give their kids a car, doesn't mean that the car is entirely "free" There are obligations involved... such as, you have a car to drive to school... so.. you must surely be in the Dean's List right. Coz last time when I had to walk to school I still managed to get 2nd in class. You understand what that means right. Just because parents give car doesn't mean its a free car. The child must make good on the advantages he has been given. So the car is not free lah, every cent counts ... because parents keep tab... which parent doesn't ... increase in every expenditure, eg. carpark = warrants extra "must do better" for parents. Most of the undergrads who drive cars that their parents sponsor will have some idea of the non-financial costs involved. It's a contra deal. If I were you uni kids, I would refuse to take the car. Go public transport till uni is over, then go to work, earn money, buy them a fcuking nice car and don't talk about who paid for the education, they knew what they were investing in. But then again when i was in uni I rode my bicycle to class nearly every day for 3 years, becaise I only stay 10 minutes away and I thought exercise was a good thing. Couldn't afford a car and didn't need it, but would you do that today? This is not my two cents because of interest fees, so now probably worth 5 cents but still think about it before commenting further on this already 22 page thread, I do rather enjoy the replies esp by those who have made their own money, bought their own car, and wanna talk about other kids who have cars and get stereotyped by forummers here, but yet STILL think a university education is still necessary? lol... what is your reason to be here? Apart from insecurity. Yes, you'll probably lose what you have achieved today, some day. Wheels of fortune do turn. ;) Milk it while it lasts today ↡ Advertisement
