GLZT 6th Gear November 9, 2010 Share November 9, 2010 As per topic, I understand that selling and purchasing of coporate leads is not illegal, but what about leads on individuals? Can we sue company that sell our particulars to other company that keep calling us? ↡ Advertisement

Jlyb86 Neutral Newbie November 9, 2010 Share November 9, 2010 every lucky draw/signing up behind has a small clause that read " with submission of this event you allow the organiser to use it for other marketing events" something like that. Basically all sold leads came from somewhere that you submitted your information.
Freestylers09 5th Gear November 9, 2010 Share November 9, 2010 i think i know what ur lead means..not my usual lead to find stuffs..haha! but in first place, how we know who has our particulars?
Darryn Turbocharged November 9, 2010 Share November 9, 2010 Privacy laws in Singapore are pretty lax. However in general, a company should only use information for the express purpose for which it was collected, UNLESS they get your permission in writing. Few people adhere to this, even the bank will pass your info to third parties for profit (there has been many cases of this) so companies are really only bound by how consumers will react. Jamesc Hypersonic November 9, 2010 Share November 9, 2010 If you are fed up with companies calling you, then just tell them if they call you again, you will report them to the police. Also get the manager's name and handphone number and then give it to insurance agents, time share etc.
GLZT 6th Gear November 9, 2010 Author Share November 9, 2010 I see. Thanks for all the input here, I always have this perception that collecting your leads through particular medium like lucky draws and some kind of suscription for the own company use is different from collecting then selling them to other companies for their database. ↡ Advertisement
