Pacu or Piranha Found by Housewife At Reservoir?

Evening newspaper reported a housewife seeing a dying fish suspected to be a piranha at lower seletar reservor.

 

She claimed she knew it was a piranha based on a show she saw recently.

 

Hope it is case of mistaken identity of mixing up with the red-bellied also but harmless pacu...

 

If not, our local water eco-system might go hay-wire & even be dangerous for those canoists...

实里达下段　利牙“食人鱼”出现蓄水池

 

有人申诉，实里达下段的蓄水池出现“食人鱼”。

 

家庭主妇周女士（37岁）告诉《新明日报》，她是在星期三傍晚5时左右，带两个女儿（分别为6岁和4岁）到实里达下段的蓄水池公园游玩时，赫然发现“食人鱼”的踪影。

 

周女士说，公园里有个供小孩下水玩乐的水池，“食人鱼”就出现在水池的一个角落，被发现时已经奄奄一息。她怀疑，“食人鱼”是被人从蓄水池中钓起后，丢进儿童池的。

 

“我曾经看过一些青少年，随手把他们钓到的鱼，放进儿童池中。”

 

周女士说，她不久前曾看过“食人鱼”的电影，所以，一眼就认出儿童池里出现的是同一种类的鱼。

 

“对鱼类有认识的钓鱼爱好者也告诉我，那就是‘食人鱼’，让我大吃一惊。”

I believe the photo was not taken from the scene but of a real piranha caught some where.

 

What the housewife should do was to bring the fish to the authorities for their follow-up investigation.

 

Now without the specimen, they have to some how catch one to verify.

 

Provided they catch the right one...
