COE is to control the population of cars on the road. That's all it does.

You don't need to control the population of bikes because they don't cause jams like cars. As to why bikes have a COE, I need enlightenment too.

Motorcycle COE is the most unfair.

Bikes does not increase traffic jams in Singapore!!!

By right gov should increase the motorcycle cow quota to encourage more people to ride bike!

U let in thousands of ju-hoo motorcycles into Singapore each day, yet there is no serious jams contributed from these bikes. What is wrong to issue more motorcycle bikes to encourage more to ride bike to work??

I read a explanation before that a Bike actually took up as much space a car. Just that bikers have the habit of riding in between lane and don't want to ride at the center of a lane [laugh]. Also, they like to go infront of cars at the traffic light [cool].

Really hope miracle happen!! Been without car for 2 mths lia, hoping end year got promotion and coe drop :)

I am also hoping for miracle to happen.... Waiting to renew COE. I only have 1yr 10 months left for my car......

I swear I will never give it up because of COE....I will do anything to keep it. Its not about money, its about the love. There are some things in live you love so much you are not willing to give it up regardless of the consequences....

How about this?

Get 100,000 bikers to switch to cars (each not more than measuring 4M long by 1.6M wide - i.e. typical hatchback) for a day and see what happened to the traffic in Singapore.

I always think that motorcycle ERP unit should be credited with $1 everytime it passes through an ERP gantry (even though I drive now).

u obviously don't stay/work in the North. I've personally seen a lorry knock into a bike on the 3rd lane and the bike flew right in front of me in the first lane. I had to horn to warn the two bikes behind me that I was going to do some hard braking. One of them slid down and ended up slightly below my rear bumper.

What I recall is that it was assessed that bikes took up like 75% of the space of a car. But you're right. The assessment was based on the fact that bikes should ride inside the lane and not in between lanes.

Ya, I remember reading it too. Something like, a bike is taking 3/4 of the size of car.

Btw, some cities in China ban bikes. Yes, they really confiscate the bike and throw them away.
