Dankoo 4th Gear October 27, 2010 Share October 27, 2010 From CNA: SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced several Cabinet changes which will take effect from November 1. Wong Kan Seng will relinquish his post as Home Affairs Minister and take over as Co-ordinating Minister for National Security from Professor S Jayakumar. Mr Wong will remain as Deputy Prime Minister. He will also oversee the National Population and Talent Division, which will be set up under the Prime Minister's Office to coordinate Singapore's population and talent policies across different ministries. Taking over as Home Affairs Minister will be Law Minister K Shanmugam, who will have two portfolios. Professor S Jayakumar will remain as Senior Minister in the Prime Minister's Office. Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Lui Tuck Yew, will be promoted to full minister. Other promotions: Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Environment and Water Resources Ministry, Amy Khor, will be promoted to Minister of State. She will remain as Mayor of the South West Community Development Council (CDC) and chairman of feedback unit, REACH; Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Home Affairs and Education Ministries Masagos Zulkifli will be promoted to Minister of State for both ministries; Current Parliamentary Secretary at the Trade and Industry Ministry and the Information, Communications and the Arts Ministry, Sam Tan, will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary; and Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the National Development Ministry. The last Cabinet changes were carried out in March 2009. Commenting on the latest Cabinet changes, Foreign Minister George Yeo said they are part of Prime Minister Lee's larger effort at renewing the Cabinet and preparing Singapore for the next phase forward.
