I don't get it, shouldn't our government discourage mulitple Car ownership and promotes Public transport?

MP Teo Ser Luck wants to increase the number of Parking Lots for his residents becos many households have more than 1 car! So if his estate residents have more than 2 cars, does it mean he will have to build even more car park lots so that the residents will "support" him in Elections.

If they can make road users pay more for driving through the roads (ERP increase again!), why can't the government make those unit who has more than 1 car to pay a higher price?

y would someone restrict its department's income?

more car = more ppl pay for COE, road tax, more tax for petrol, more car park fees to collect, etc....

The more people buy cars, the happier the government. They can sustain their COE income for as long as possible, not to mention the parking, erp, fines, road tax, insurance tax, and assorted car related maintenance and repairs tax.

Why would they want to lessen then number of cars??? [:/]

But they can wayang abit and use it as an excuse to increase the ERP and road tax and assorted above.

Then use the cost of owning a car to peg to the public transport rates!!

Vicious cycle.

Punggol south is not at Punggol but sengkang buangkok area. Punggol itself should be punggol north. So your thread title a bit wrong. It's confusing but that's the facts

totally agreed with you.

dont understand why they want to confuse people with Punngol North and Punggol South.

KNN, should just state it as Sengkang. Simple as that.

ummm... so, are they slowly "re-drawing" the boundary by including sengkang/buangkok into punggol? (just look at the messy Aljunied) ... seems like punggol 21++ is in the making and they are expecting "punggol" district to worth more than sk.... [shakehead]

The govt don't and shouldn't discourage car ownership. I think the MP Teo Ser Luck knows and understands that, because he is pretty much like the kind of people who live in SK and Punggol. We need our cars for some reasons or another.
