Why Still Can Drive With Handbrake Pulled?

Am not confident of my handbrake. Normally at idle, the rpm will alternate sinusoidally cos maybe the alternator load as well as the a/c compressor fan keeps varying. Sometimes i can feel the car shudder as if it can creep forward. Sometimes it does.

 

So now i just step on the normal brake pedal just in case.

You got the point. You are right. Your car not normally roadworthy and needs workshop attention immediately.

I dun trust my handbrake. May "Pop out" anytime one. When parking I put into 1st Gear and its upslope and R when its downslope lol..

when i forgotten to release my footbrake and i applied my accelerator, my car will still move.~

but there will be a warning beeping sound and it will indicate "Release Foot Brake" infront of my screen.

 

The beeping is quite a nice feature to have. I think the current standard is the light on the panel but no sound. Of course it is best if we remember all the time to release, but once in a blue moon things happen.

 

@Kopites, mine is FWD.

 

Think maybe I will ask my WS guys the next time I visit. Usually at servicing I will just ask for the handbrake cable to be clicked tighter, because the handbrake keeping having to pull higher and higher.

 

I still cannot think of a reason why the accelerator should override the handbrake but it seems that is not the case for all cars, only some, based on what I am reading here so far.
