Not all Euro 4 engine needs 40 grade oil. My caddy using 5W-30, which meets the VW requirement.

what's the recommended OCI?

mine says 5W-40, 15000 km OCI in owner's manual, so i don't dare to go lower. for my getz i did use 5W-20 but that was ok according to manual.

15000km for Caddy too. I used LiquiMoly 4200 5W-30 which meets VW requirement 507.00

Is that Caddy II ?

I got the old one but I heard must use synthetic -w40 due to the turbocharger.

I wonder where to get the LiquiMoly cheap? :D

Yep, it's the current caddy with DSG one.

No problem with the 5W-30 one. Been using LM for since 15000km. Now it's almost 50000km.

LM is never cheap, I went JB buy. Even though, also costs more than S$100 for the 5L one. [laugh]

Ok thanks. LM seemed like good stuff. Was thinking of getting it if the price is right. :D

If I get Schaeffer Supreme 5w40, still can get for around $65 for 5 qts.

Euro-IV engine will seize and cannot be restarted if wrong oil is used.

Must send back to agent to reset.

Wow, that sounds really bad. Engine sieze because wrong oil is used. I jus wonder whats the point of having Euro IV standards if its so hard to maintain. I can live with the higher emissions but not with such terrible maintenance needed.

What car are you driving? of course you can top-up engine oil if low, just need to know if it's diesel engine oil or petrol engine oil.

Depends on how much you need to top-up, if 200ml for 10k then any brand engine oil will do but if you have to top-up 500ml for every 3k then best is to use the same engine oil brand.

No problem, alot of ppl is using 0w30 for their Jazz, some even use 0w20 for 200+k till now.

All Syn engine oils are created more or less the same. Most important is the Weight of the Oil.

For singapore weather , using 5W-40 should suffice as oil gets thinner when weather is hot and humid.
