Car battery lifespan getting shorter?

I think these days due to the fancy electronic gadgets,  they drain up the battery quite fast. Even thou I change original battery at AD, mine also only last 1.5years only.    1-way to office is 19km, is it enough to charge the battery ?

My car is turning 5years in Sep, already the 3rd battery (just replaced Feb).  Even thou 90% of time it is parked in sheltered carpark in MSCP & office.   No fancy add-ons in my car … only 1 front camera recording when car is powered.

Same. 5.5 year old car. Think probably the heat shielding for my model's battery location is not as good.

On my 3rd battery so far. which was replaced in Dec 2018 haha. Shoutout to @Kb27 Your battery lasted me the longest so far.

same, I leave it at home away from fire hazard area, if need then take, if outside at most ask someone bring down or go back take. SG temp too hot if car is parked in the open.

Can not disagree.

i have put a few jump start kit in my car. They didn’t explode or catch fire but became bloated after jump starting or charging. 😅

Now I just keep one at home.

Actually don’t have to go back AD to change battery, sure kenna chop unless you have servicing voucher to use.

The battery is hard to say one. It could be your car is drawing too much power or it could be the battery plates inside is not as much as the others.

I only know last time GS Yuasa battery really can last forever, that's why the company lose money during the 90s. Cause they have no returning customer! All the customer have no reason to buy new batteries!

yes. amaron when it first came out also like that , even for japanese car a small amaron can easily last 3-4 years. ( but after a few years no more, it become standard 1.5-2 years 😆)

My 1st replacement was claimed under warranty.  I asked AD to check its health as i know my car battery will uplorry by Year 2.

I am on the 3rd battery for 6 year old car.  WS advised to use AGM battery as it will last longer.  See how 1st.

My guess engine bay heat kills battery.

My Mini with Varta also don't last.

Supersonic

AGM is not good for tropical countries like ours. Unless it's kept cool in a boot, it might last a bit longer.

It is great for cold countries with very cold winter, where a regular battery electrolytic (acid/water) can freeze. AGM does not have a liquid electrolyte.

It's other advantage is that it doesn't suffer from sulphation, unlike regular lead-acid battery.

AGM charging voltage is also on the lower side, max around 14V. If your car charging system can't handle AGM and overcharge it, it will die quickly as well. Overcharging will heat up the battery fast.

Heat is the number one killer of batteries.
