Jeju Island

Thanks to PRC. Now, tiagong all signs have putonghua liao. If you can read Mandarin, you can travel Korea F&E.

from http://wikitravel.org/en/Jeju

Although tourism is one of the main industries on the island, many of the hotels and other tourist areas are run by mainland companies, so much of the income never gets put back into the local economy. Also, since the attractions are geared towards tourists, many of the entrance fees can be hefty (although the locally owned and operated ones tend to be cheaper). Similar to Gyeongju and some other areas, local residents can enter most places for free or for a steeply discounted price.

jeju is big, 3 times of Singapore.

jeju - (714 sq mi)

Singapore - 278 sq mi

Oops!

U need to split your trip into northern and southern part of the island.  Within either northern/southern part of the island, you can travel east to west or vice versa.

Hotel in southern part of the island is more ex.

Its your honeymoon. Why spoil it by taking a cookie cutter tour package ?

Jeju is very romentic, great for honeymoon.

Unfortunately I had to bring the wife.

Driving is very easy in Jeju as its a big island with not many cars.

Left hand drive you will pick it up after a while.

Be careful of speed traps near schools.

The gps will warn you, just need to slow down.

Rental is about $30 - $40 a day if I remember correctly.

Hotels are not expensive and some of them even had honeymoon videos.

All the attractions are in the middle of no where so really need to drive.

Can drive one round around the island so no need to go back.

I love the food there. Get there before all the Chinese buy up the island.

Jeju has a stupid rule where foreigners can up condos there.

They thought they will bring jobs to the island but the Chinese run the

shops, restaurants and supermarkets so no jobs for locals.

:D

Any place you have not been is a nice place. When you visit a new place, the idea is to experience the lifestyle of the locals.

Otherwise, must as well just check into a local hotel and continue with your daily routine. This itself is already what you may consider holidaying.

LOL, you start with a teaser, that's nice

yeah, I read that rental is cheap, for a small car. it only cost around USD 12 which is suffice for 2 of us.

Of course, they also have the veloster.. how cool is that..

Am I correct to say book online is cheaper as compared to the airport?

Was told that during peak period, the car fleet might not be available.

as for their gps, enter their telephone number beginning with 7

Petrol is reasonable, much cheaper as compare to SG

carpark is free for most.

I think I gonna drive around in jeju, like what I did in langkawi.

Food wise, its cheaper and tastier for street food while in seoul, avoid staying near the railway stations.

for now, we probably will spend 6 days in jeju and another 2 days in seoul.

3 days on each side of jeju, god knows when will we ever go back to jeju.

lastly, was also told after we have planned our itinerary, pay a visit to this 'price breaker' to see if we could bring down the cost further.

My wife and I are planning to have our honeymoon in jeju this Oct, contemplating between tour package or Free and easy.

The cost of tour package is around $1.5k, all in.

I actually prefer free and easy as I can nigger in the bed longer rather than as planned.

I don't mind to rent a car in jeju, but was told they are left hand drive.

was also told that the hotels and admission are costly, hence it may be more cost saving if we were to go for tour package.

any pointers to share?

TS, I also planned travelling to korea this end of the year with my partner and this is the first time there n we decided to go f&e.. I set myself on adventurous mode :XD: We will spend 4days seoul n 4days at jeju.. Everything DIY~

I will do all the hotel and flight booking and car rental, my partner will plan itenary.. Car rental, u can look at sixt.com their cars cheap.. hoping there's convertible, got mini or SLK but too ex liao.. end up renting kia :secret-laugh:  dirt cheap, 4 days 130++ only.. It's a 6hours flight so I booked SQ for comfort. KA too ex liao and recently they have alot of issue.. hotel, go agoda.. after much comparison they r still pretty much the idea price. Overall my side I have fork out $3k+ for hotels both places, flights both international and domestic and car rental. I hope this infor helps.. we choose to go jeju first, so the moment we reached seoul, we will go to another airpork to take the domestic flight.

If you decide to go korea then u must start planning liao cos my colleague told me that the nearer date may have no more cars to rent(which i doesn't wanna take the chances) Booking hotel got early bird discount also.. so more pocket friendly~ look out for SQ 2 to go promo~

With small kids, KA is the best because my kids absolutely loved Pororo and KA gives Pororo themed goodies for kids. My kids even got to ride a Tayo in Jeju

Yes cheaper to book online and no point taking the risk

arrive in Jeju and find no more cars left.

To save money I stayed in the resort hotels and also stayed

in the honeymoon hotels called motels. The motels were fantastic

big beds, big bathrooms, all the toiletries, adult education videos

must be for first timers, I am well clued up on this subject.

I like motels in Korea so much I even ask my company to put

me up in motels to save money for the company or just give

me the difference for food and other things. Food also very cheap

in Korea and the seafood is very fresh. If you don't like seafood

the black pig and beef is also very good there.

Yeah. This saturday going to plan, today already print out the map and starting to hunt for hotels..

If got extra budget, really wanted to rent the veloster. .

Met a friend today and he shared with me about this price breaker. Saying the price is even cheaper than what is published online. Give it a try.

As for food, go for street food instead of restaurant. And while in seoul, avoid hotels near the railway.

Noted, will book online then.

Motels? Interesting.. the motels that I have been, are always dirty, smell and with roaches. . Damn..

Some how, you sound very kinky to me. Cheers, keke.

@maomao pay a visit to this site, it actually has the gps coordinates of the poi.
