Due to the hype of the recent COE... Is it a good time to buy a brand new car now? Will prices be better next yr??

Would I get a good price selling as well?

Any advise??

If you have the money to burn, by all means carry on. I dun think anyone sensible wil buy a car hoping that the price will go up due to coe going higher nd then sell it.

A good time is when you have the means to finance a new car. A bad time is when you cannot afford a new car.

LPPL....

sell high. buy high. unless you sell and don't buy.

but even if you sell now. assuming you took long loan, you still have to pay of penalty ... also wun earn might have to cough out even more

Buy used car better. Although you are still paying higher, but at least more affordable.

In current situation, it's better to let others take the first depreciation hit.

Turbocharged

if i am not wrong, 80% of the car population is <5 yr old. COE should start dropping by yr 2013 as more cars will be scrape by that time and more COE will be recycle back into the sys.

From 2005 onwards is where COE is lower. Keep ur present ride, buy used cars or "tahan" until 2015 at least for cheap COE.. Don't expect COE premium to come down anytime soon.

Nope, I personally its worth buying car when COE is high. Eg 40K COE, this means 4K a year. Whether you drive or not, you lose 4K a year just on COE (have yet to include body depreciation).

Buy high price, sell high price. But there is a problem with this.... If COE drops, new car prices will drop as well. Then you will have a problem selling your car. Remember back then when COE drops till $2? A band new car cost even less than a 2nd hand car......

agree if you look last year thread or 2008 thread some people always say cars are too expensive now than..... COE hit above $40,000 [laugh]

there is talk government might still wanna reduce COE quote, if it really happen I guess car price still will be high as last 10 years many people have grown very rich
