LoverofCar 6th Gear October 13, 2010 Share October 13, 2010 I recently went to Autobacs (on a weekend) to buy some tyre valve caps and i couldn't get parking (the Bukit Batok one). They were so crowded with many families! Then i was thinking, Autobacs is popular because of its one-stop concept: Everything also have! Do such one-stop automotive centres work? What type of services would you want in such a one-stop place? Accessories, tyre changing, car servicing, car tuning... food? video games? racing simulator? Hmmm, but the thing is, we all have our own favourites.. workshops we often go to for car tuning for example. How likely are you to go to a one-stop centre if it can offer you EVERYTHING you need for your car? If they have foot massage service while i wait for my car to be serviced....Perfect.... ↡ Advertisement
Pinkypink Neutral Newbie October 13, 2010 Author Share October 13, 2010 If they have foot massage service while i wait for my car to be serviced....Perfect.... ah, so you mean having massage chairs or machines at the customer lounge area would be a bonus ah? Benarsenal Turbocharged October 13, 2010 Share October 13, 2010 I think for servicing most workshops would be cheaper than Autobacs. But Autobacs good for car accessories. I managed to find an iPod FM connector for quite cheap (about half price compared to buying from Apple store).
Pinkypink Neutral Newbie October 13, 2010 Author Share October 13, 2010 what else will make you want to go and visit that one-stop automotive centre? accessories, servicing, tuning, accidents and repairs, insurance, body care packages, spray painting, tyres..? LoverofCar 6th Gear October 13, 2010 Share October 13, 2010 ah, so you mean having massage chairs or machines at the customer lounge area would be a bonus ah? Not machine...if they have people doing it...will be best of the best...

LoverofCar 6th Gear October 14, 2010 Share October 14, 2010 wah that's gonna cost a lot leh, and you want it free? Can be a form of benefit to get car owner to do servicing there....May be charge a sum as rebate of servicing package. Use blind man to do it....Confirm good business for the auto hub... Rubbishman 1st Gear October 14, 2010 Share October 14, 2010 I think Autobacs can be considered a good one-stop automotive hub. It would be better if they sell cars as well and have an entire fleet of demo cars in the showroom. Sometimes when we need to get a particular item, its hard to visualize how it will look in our car. By having the demo cars there, we can have a better feel of how the item will look on our car. This one stop hub should be located at the Tampines IKEA, where there is already Courts and Giants. Somewhere you can dine and shop while buying auto products. The best part is, there is ample free parking.
Weekokwah Neutral Newbie October 15, 2010 Share October 15, 2010 I guess its just novelty that this place needs. It would be exciting when new but after a period of time if they do not have new attractions, people generally lose interest. However, how exciting can a hub be? What does it have, servicing? Shopping? Launches? Shows?
Jchuacl Clutched October 15, 2010 Share October 15, 2010 With the Changi track coming up, this could become a reality. If the level of technical knowledge at Autobacs here is like the one over in Japan , then it would be fantastic. Recently I went to Autobacs asking for impact wrench and I got a blank look from them. This is a common tool but yet they don't know what it is I think Autobacs can be considered a good one-stop automotive hub. Pinkypink Neutral Newbie October 17, 2010 Author Share October 17, 2010 Hello Kitty engine oil?! haha are you a Hello Kitty fan??!! but yes i think a one-stop auto hub which includes new car sales or demo cars to display the parts that they sell is a good idea but a very costly investment. and maybe the one-stop auto hub should be started by someone who already has a good reputation and customer following in the industry. or the one-stop auto hub can engage reputable companies specialised and recognised in their own field, to be part of the hub. eg. let's say Garage A is famous for car tuning and Shop B is famous for ICE.. get both Garage A and Shop B to be part of the hub? that might attract people to go? wah, make it like Courts or Ikea at Tampines? with lots of parking and food? sounds good but the initial investment will be heavy! do you think such a concept should be at the Changi Motorsports Hub? wow, then there's also a circuit for tracking or go-karting or drifting in addition to the one-stop auto hub? that will be ideal... Fuelsaver Supercharged October 17, 2010 Share October 17, 2010 autobacs is good to have cos it one stop shop almost. but it's better to have specialized workshops for more technically demanding jobs like painting and major repairs.. not to say old birds r gd but those "kids" at autobacs didn't gimme confidence of havin the aptitude to take care of my car. perhaps autohub should combine all the above + demo n used car centres with affordable aircon concept dining like IKEA (not those "cafeteria" / food court).. this should attract most drivers.
