Agree and if you feel more comfy with branded oil, shell helix is about $55-00 for 4L

Oil change labour is only our $5 sing dollars in jb.

Fast and professional.

Doubt if i will ever use a singapore ws again if i could help it.

IMHO, SHU suxs.

Erm.....let me rephrase.....if your car has tasted other oils, you will not go back to SHU.

Is your mechanic familiar with my lau pok chia?

He is old school. Good with our bread n butter cars.

Last time i drive e corona n he doing a merc 200. I say i thinking of changing to that merc, he advise me against it. He say my corona so much better than e merc.

He repair all sorts of cars so he really knows what cars r good n what r not so good. Why u think i stick wh him fr 15 years. I take his advice seriously.

Btw i hv stopped using jimmy/ Creative Trdg cos my recent skid i feel was partly due to something ty did to my car a couple of days b4 e skid.

I prob going to Kennys at amk autopoint fm now on.

I agree. I tried SHU once n i was suprised how bad it was. If i want to use branded oil, i prefer mobil 1 or castrol.

Now using ''unknown'' c@rlube syn 40 weight. Good value fr $. Last time i use RP but now it become too ex fr my cheepo car.

i agreed SHU oil breakdown quite fast especially after 5k. best 2 use othr oil like c*rlube if u wan change every 5k. cheap cheap $28/ 5L.

Agreed.

Even when i put fresh SHU in, my engine felt very heavy n sluggish compared to RP which i was using that time. I changed at 5k km even though i always change oil at 10k km with all other synthetic oils i used.

It was like so different fm all other synthetic oils i used b4. :o

I think Kennys only do tire stuff like computerised 4 wheel alignment n balancing. No repairs n u need to make appointment in advance cos he quite busy.

u can search in here fr his details. I think 04-15. tel 90921015.

thanks dude....looking for another workshop at amk autopoint

Ok. Fr my optra, he chgs $50 fr a 4 wheel computerised alignment.

Let me know how was it cos i also never used him b4 but heard he is good. Plus he's cheaper than my old tire shop Creative Trdg who charges $60 n e quality of creative has dropped a lot lately.

In SG i think most drivers think their cars r special cos it cost so much to buy n maintain.

Thats why ws can take advantage n charge so much fr a simple service cos ty know drivers really sayang their rides n think by paying more means very special service. :D

Actually what ty r really getting is just a very basic service. [:)]

right on...bro [;)]

Neutral Newbie

Last time ah, i damn scared to touch my car, everything send to ws do, change oil, send to ws, even change bulb also send to ws.

But every since moving to melb to study, bloody labour costs 120/hour, where got the money to go and everything also send to ws? So DIY lor, actually after awhile you will find that it is actually very easy. Oil change is a simple job, but it costs a lot if labour because the car needs to sit and drain for at least an hour, and oil filter is easy. Its just a matter of finding the filter and using the tool to crank it off. And oil change even easier, get a jack, jack up the car, undo the oil sump plug and just let it drain, then top up accordingly.

And the best part, all these instructions come along with the manual in your car, so there is nothing to worry about.

I recently did an oil change on my rb26, just undid the oil sump plug, let it drain, played one round of L4D2, then put back the plug.

And for the oils, i think ah, any full group IV/V synth is good for at least 10,000kms. Those who use full synth and change every 5000kms, are just wasting their cash imo. I plan to change oils every 5000kms because i'm using a semi. (HAHA save money la)

And oil filter also, every 20,000km then change once, not a lot of things to filter one, can tahan.

Invest in a good set of tools/jack and stuff will save you a lot in labour. All these can be done on a sunday afternoon, easily. But don't forget to dispose of your old engine oil properly, best is pour into the now empty oil bottle you have in your hands, then just chuck it in the bin.

I use sougi 10w40 semi synth. Its an aussie brand la, but beware, motul has many grades of oil, unless you're sure which grade is going into your engine, dont think its a good deal.
